Guess What I Am Getting On The Weekend?
I know, most places around here sell them from $300 - $450 a bird so finding 4 for $500 I thought was a good deal. Granted we have to travel out for them. Getting green avairy stock is normally the $200 mark but Blue proven pairs can still be around $300 a bird however this guy who has the Blue stock wants out of birds fast and is a good two hours from Melbourne so that is why he is selling them cheap, a good find as far as I can tell.

Guess What I Am Getting On The Weekend?
4 quaker parrots! okay so pippi and I are getting them but still excited much. It was something we had thought about doing and then we just decided to do it and got offered two pairs for next to nothing ($500 for 4 birds) we have to travel to two different places this weekend so it's going to be a long weekend. We have to move all the Budgies out of Pippi's avairy into quarantine at my house then set up his avairy and area for the new arrivals. We are getting a blue pair and a grenn pair split for blue. Both pairs are young and no related so we hope to make a third pair later down the track. *does a happy dance*

Man Fined Over Attempted Budgie Theft!

Seed? Yes Or No?
Most vets tell you to use pellets and then try to sell you the pellets. My Budgies would not touch them soI never bothered however I know others that Love them. My King Parrot got intoduced to pellets last night and snubed his seed today in favour of the pellets. Pellets also have a tendency to make them fat (one of the reasons my King gets them) try grinding them up and sprinkling them over the seed mix sometimes it is the different shape and texture of the pellets they don't like

Would This Be okay To Do?
I have a bird that in the avairy sits next to his chosen mate but does not feed her, does not look like he wants to mate with her. When he was over a year old I put them down to breed and it was like a light bulb went off he got with the program and bang one of the best dads I have, I can even remove him from his mate with a chick that needs extra TLC for 24 hours and he feeds and sits on the chick, he then makes sure he feeds this chick from them on. However back in the avairy shows no intrest in anything! Another pair I have down at the moment where going for it like flys in the avairy doing everything right, put them in a breeding cage and nothing they sit there and look at each other. So untill you get them into a cage it's hard to tell. Also the dads do more then you think and a hen by herself and kill herself trying to feed and sit etc... better to wait and know that you are giving everyone the best possible chance.

To Clip Birds Wings
Just a side note, my vet told me it was illegal for anyone outside of a vet to clip a birds wings, not that I think it will stop anyone. Clipping is a personal thing, i thought I would keep my King Parrots wings clipped now I am going to let them grow out

Two Birds By Themselves
Before I went away I moved my two birds to a friends house which was about an hour away. One was a gift so was in a little carry box with a bow on top and the other was just in his flight cage. When we got to my friends house Buddy who was in the flight cage had destroyed his cage, was in a panic and it took him ages to calm down, the new bird that was a gift was fine and was out and about exploring the new area within mintues when buddy did not come out till later that night and even then was not a happy bird. So a small box like a show box with holes in it is always a good idea, i find that they really like that, cause it's dark and small and they feel safe.

My Aviary
I have found him two homes and have turned them down. he needs a home with nothing like cats as the smell or sounds of them would not do him any good, also a loud house will not work. i am trying to find an older person who has no other pets and would like him as someone to talk to I think in that type of environment then he will do well and once he got to know his area then he would be right. I know if I move him cages I put him near or on the food source this way he can find it. I also have seen him move along the cage to find the water and then move back to the food.

My Aviary
No it was more that he just sat on his food, showed no intrest in the hens and unless I touched him would not fly away from me. then MB had a look at this eyes and they are all cloudy.

My Aviary
Liv, that ino is fine he is just really really blind! I am trying to find him another home but at the moment he seems happy enough in the avairy. They are all a little fluffy cause about 10 mins before photos they where moved in so a little annoyed at me. Also Angel the ino always leans to one side the vet thinks it may be because he can hear better from one side so he tries to keep that side up.

Vent Area Covered In Poo
It's like buying homebrand coffee when you really only like the top of the time stuff, some budgie will just not eat it

Quails Living In With The Budgies ?
I got the Chinese ones as I was told they would keep the floor clean, they did not. they would nest right near the avairy door which was a pain, they made this noise like a sick cat which annoyed my neighbours (and they asked me to get rid of them) and to top it off, twice I was in the avairy they got a fright and flew straight into my face, one headache and one black eye later they had to go bye bye. They are cute but not for me.

MB you are out of touch, those dance cam things are all over the place! Grip ball is good, so are skipping ropes and yoga mats. You can also get the big foam floor puzzles that doubles as a play mat.

Meal Worms
I tried them with my Budgies and one brave cock ate the the others would not go near the food bowl untill the little offenders where removed. Elmo played with them, I gave him 12 but could only find 9 on the bottom of his cage and then found another near my Desk don't know if he ate the other two or if they crawled away.

Meet Ozzie
Making toys is the way to go, my King Parrot Elmo just destroys all of his and people keep telling me how parrot toys are a waste for him as Kings don't play/chew them more fool them! Very cute, I hope to one day be able to scratch Elmos head but not sure this will ever happen
