Not Sure What She Is
Now that could be a difficult question…he looks like a Dilute, maybe a Black Eyed Self. Dilutes are Recessive, so if she isn’t carrying Dilute, you will only get chicks that are split for Dilute. Lacewing is sex linked, so unless he is split for it you would only get male chicks split for Lacewing. The same goes for the Red Eye factor. If he is not split for Blue I would only be game to say …some Green Birds…(Laughing out loud). he is a dilute. i had him paired with this lacewing sister who had died and she gave me a pink eyed baby before they were all killed. she laid another clutch then she was killed (over box) and i manage to get 1 egg fostered. it just hatched today and i think its a pinkeyed as well.

Very Disappointed With The Breeder We Found :-)
thats disappointing to hear, but personnally i would have checked them before i paid. nearly $200 for 7 budgies you would expect quality and top birds. as a breeder myself i wouldnt sell dud birds to other breeders and i tell them whats wrong with them then its their choice if they want the birds, but i would take the duds to a pet shop. some breeders dont give 2 cents about their birds and other breeders except how to make an easy dollar.

Breeding Australian To English
would there be a problem breeding the english budgies to the smaller australian budgies. i have pretty colours in my smaller birds and i want too keep the english colours but i want to keep my colours. so could i breed my smaller birds to get my colours to the larger birds or does the size difference have a problem?

Colony Or Selective Breeding
i colony breed. yes there are lots of problems when breeding in a colony and the major one is fighting over nest boxes that have eggs and/or young as i just lost my white fallow hen. i lost 2 eggs and i'm hoping her 5 other eggs are accepted by 3 foster parents. as a renter i cant build a birdroom so for me to breed budgies is with avairies. my other reason for colony breeding is the another big one and thats time as i only have 3 days a week that i'm able to fully enjoy my birds, the other days is just filling up the seed & water hoppers, chucking in milk thistle or giving the keys to my partner and she feeds them. i also have 2 smaller avairies but i will need them as i i want to find crested budgies and they will have a small avairy each but there's no way they will be going into the main budgie avairy. one day in the future i will selective breed but at my current situation its not possible

Just How Many Times Should You Let Budgies Breed Each Year?
i normally go 2-3 times depending on how many young ones fledge after the second round. my birds are in a avairy so sometimes some pairs only get 1 clutch due to being to slow to start breeding

My New Birds
i do like the blue spangle pied

Why Breed?
i'm the same, a hobby breeder and will be joining a club soon as i would love to get into crested budgies. i normally sell to friends (some young are keepers but must go) and i just remove the boxes to stop them breeding
