i grow three plants of silverbeet and i give it to my birds twice a week (have to share silverbeet with other half and my lamb)

i also would love a visual violet but just cant find any. im off to Mt Gambier for a budgie show in 2 weeks and will join with the club to help find the colour. Kaz you have some amazing birds particular the yellow face birds

i remove my boxes when i have finished breeding for the year giving them 6-7 months of rest before putting the boxes back in.

in my avairy i have a pair of yf2 geys that are unseperatable, if she goes down to the floor 9 times out of 10 he will be next to her. i didnt buy them paired up but they have been paired up since i brought them home

i have seen my babies feed each other a few times. i think the dad feeds extra to the oldest baby and that baby shares it out. dont know if true, just my theory

in my avairy i have 1 male and 3 hens and now i have 1 of the hens in my nursery cage with 4 youngsters (due to 3 day old chicks walking outside the front of the avairy) and i now have a second hen on nest and the third hen has started to leave eggs scattered in a corner.

no i didnt breed for albinos

i disagree with the breeder about a waste of time as i have bred my yellow/green danish pied to a albino 3 times and only once i got a green, all the young were yellow/green danish or blue/white danish and some had very little black markings on them and some were hard to sell. so there is no reason for not breeding your bird to an albino. and it all comes down to what colours your pied is carrying too.

i normally wait 4 to 6 weeks before i start to think about new homes

i love the size of the avairy

i'll tell her that about the vet and i've told her no more birds till we solve this problem unless they are exceptional then they will have to into one of my empty avairy for awhile

i'll go hens as well

my next door neighbour also has an avairy of budgies but they are dying of one at a time young and old including babies and she is close to opening the avairy door and walk away. her avairy faces the same direction as mine (northish), better fed than mine (they get greens nearly everyday) so on the weekend we're moving her birds into another avairy without nestboxes, digging her floor out and replacing it (we use untreated wood chips) burning out her nests and spraying for mites and scrubbing all containers. just wondering disinfectant could we use and should we also scrub the avairy itself. i said to her that she should then leave tha avairy empty and not breed for a couple months. her other avairies of canaries and turks are perfectly healthy is there anything else that we should do to make sure that avairy is pest and disease free. she rents so cant concrete floor.

love the babies some people have all the luck getting 5 babies like them

probly due to coming home from work smelling of sheep poo ( i crawl under shearing shed bagging manure) and still have the smell on my hands. the baby thats still alive wasn't touched

really love your second last bird

last week i got excited because i had a pink-eye hatch and i held it as well as the other 4 youngster. next day all dead on the floor with each a bite on the neck. mum didnt like me touching. :yellowhead: i only got 1 baby in another box

put the hose on them or do what i did, between my neighbour and myself there are 10 avairies and our cats dont care about the birds but there was a cat in the area that did care but that cat has disappeared. trap it then take to pound problem solved

i give mine native tree branched and NON-SPRAYED branches from my fruit trees

in my main avairy i have budgies, pair of zebra finches and 1 java sparrow. to stop fighting i introduced all the birds at the same time and they all get along fine
