  1. I was't there today, had family commitments, that was good to get 8 up PT. the best of luck.
  2. Well there is a marked cage,if ever I seen one.Razz, you will need to buy your self, some Budgie, show cages before you go to a Budgie Show,or they will disqualified you for what is called a marked cage as it is not a standard cage. It looks to be a Canary Cage.
  3. There is a time limit set, for when the perches have to be changed & I just can't think when it is & as PT said, most have not changed yet, They are hoping it will be rescinded & they will not have to do it.
  4. Nubbly, I think the said person, has some of his idea's,on here in how to breed budgies I'm not sure if his breeding has been a success,
  5. I wont go the early Crow,as we haven't,picked the team for the Mighty "V" That happens this coming Sunday. But we will be there with all Guns firing & there will be no. holding back birds, because the might get this or that. They will be there to take no prisoners.
  6. I'm Not positive but the birds from each state are housed in a big cage for each state,I guess you have to Quarantine your birds when they come home.I would think that most breeders, would put there returning birds by themselves, for a short time so they could settle back down.
  7. Feeding all that to your birds, they will turn to fat & die.
  8. Thanks for that Chooky,That should keep Taz happy,he he.
  9. Taz, I don't have my catalogue with me I gave it to another Budgie bloke to look at.But I would think, the Tassie buyer, was well healed,if he was covering the cost himself.Good luck to him then.I would think he should be able to breed,a good Budgie from what he brought. As I said, will see what comes out of Tassie, for the National next year here at Geelong.
  10. I like it You would be made for life,if you could breed one.Perhaps a bit of Galah D&A might do the trick.
  11. That is true Splatt, there was a consortium from Tassie & they brought a line of good budgies,to take back to Tassie. It will interesting, to see the Tassie National Team next year,to see how they went with there breeding.
  12. I think the Lacewings, were the hottest contested of the breeds, By that, there was the one buyer, would just wait will the bidding, slowed & then he would, jump up in hundreds. He was there to buy them.
  13. i was wondering clearwing do you give this suet to birds uncooked or cooked is it solid form or jelly like ? If you cooked it,It would just melt down into Fat.
  14. It could cost you,$500/$1000 for those 2 pair,or even,that for 1pr.
  15. Hang off till the 8th May & go to the late Ross Loats sale & you will, find, some good Clearings to bid on.
  16. Twisted,If you was to join a club & especially in Tassie, as they are short on good Budgie Breeders,I would think you will get all the help you need & the birds to breed with.
  17. Wayne, Iwas there,I was the Steward on the back door, this year there were more Budgie sellers, there then other years. Now I did't get to see any birds, till after the Crush, & you could move around. But I did notice there were a few lots of Bush Budgie there. A bit of bad luck but the Geelong Club was going to run a sale at the Show Grounds, next Sunday. But most of us are tied up with other things on.So well have our Sale day in December now. PS what type of Finches do you breed.
  18. Ralph, you will find there is a big difference, in breeding Budgies,to breeding Poultry, As Kaz said on your other post, don't put nest boxes on your cage 7 if you are going to breed, I would go with single pens. Get yourself a couple of good books out of the Library & read up on keeping, Budgies or read the sections on the forum of what you need to do,to breed Budgies. In the case of Poultry, you can get by,with just throwing a bit of feed & water in the pen & the hen will rear the chicks. It is far more complicated with Budgies. In the looking after them.
  19. To go to a Auction, that wants to topple,Hills there is not going to be any bargain buys.By your comments, there was a lot of running the birds. Birds don't make 2 to $3000 with out 2 bidders on them,it good for bussiness, to have those birds, making that sort of money.
  20. I would think there will be a wide range of birds to select from & if your lucky enough to buy,the right pairs, should be able to breed yourself, some good show Budgies. PS Ross will be sadly miss, by all that knew him.
  21. Maesie, you have 6 budgies, you probly feed trill & you have said yourself, grit is in the mix & you say you don't feed it,you do.I could say I don't feed grit.ButI have cuttle bone,in the pens. You say you have had budgies all your life, what 2 in a cage.
  22. Twisted, for someone new to Budgies, you seem to know a bit about, what's going on.
  23. A good Auctioneer would know that & would have it at $100 in very quick time & it would draw the bidders in,you have to work the punters & keep them on there toes. I have been to some drawn out Budgie Auctions & have left, because the the Auctioneer, is hopeless .
  24. That is the way the vender gets there reserve price at an unreserved Auction. They bid on the birds or organise, for someone else to do the bidding. How do you think, that some birds go for so high prices. They have some one running them up to the price they want.
  25. Thats what they would be doing, running them in the 3 main states, what more do you want.Any way,it was just a thought on my part,I don't think the National degalates, would agree to it.
