Hi Finnie, Yes I know People study genetics. They were at it long before I started back in the 50's & a mathematical prediction is still only an educated guess. Your best bet would be to breed with this pair till you have enough offspring, say 100. Then you'l be able to make your own predictions. Yours B. J. It is not just an educated guess. It is a mathematical probability. A pair normal budgies would only have to produce one chick of a recessive mutation to prove that they were both split for that recessive mutation. Once the presence of a mutation is proven predictions of the outcome from a pair can be made I would think that 90% of show Breeders,would be breeding to set lines & keeping away from,minor breeds & never give Genetics,a second thought.

Splat, I brought the one that's on E bay, I use a flat tea spoon to a 2ltr Ice cream container of seed.once a week,I don't know if it dose any good.But it dose no harm.

I put a spoon full in seed mix, with a dash of Garlic oil to stick it to the seed.

The price you pay is gauged on the % of Canary in the mix.The cheaper mixes have fillers seeds to make the weight, So you need to be comparing,apples with apples. By the sound of it seed for Tassie,would have to be heat treated,so it doesn't germinate & I would think it would make it dearer.

I picked up a Pallet yesterday & it should work out at about $26 a bag, the is seed we get shipped down from Leeton in NSW. Very good seed,50% canary & 50%mixed millet's, no pannicn???

I believe the spangle won best spangle, but the blue was best blue and champion bird. Were is the Blue mentioned,you only mentioned the Spangle. That will move you up the rung,at the show now Splat. Will that be Open or Champion now & just think how much, you can ask for your birds when you sell them.

They are 010 & 011 birds. They were hatched in 2009/10 or 2011. You will be able to track down the breeder,by the ring code.
