Seeing as the bidding starting $20.there will be a few passed in,they will sell for $5 to$40 & seeing as there is a few going,You all better work out which birds you are buying,so you don't bid against each other,Auctioneers love novice bidders, & you could be over your limit in a blink of eye.

Yes the ice cream container,is the way to go,put some pine shaving & extruded rice hulls cat litter.Some times some hens scratch it out, leave it out till they lay & sit,then put some more back in & they will happily sit & hatch.Once the chicks are about 10----12 days old change the ice cream container,with a fresh mix.
  4. Put her in a breeding cage,with a dominating cock.She will eather settle or hide in the nest box.

  6. You buy one of those stand on things from Bunnings or who ever & stand on thwm & then you can ure the top pens.
  7. If its a budgie auction,you may not be aloud to tske your cage in before the sale.If it all breed sale,under.Goverment rules you can not tak0e birds out in open cages.Thats in Victoria anyway.I guess its the same in SA.
  8. I put split rings on my split/rec & have not had a problem & some have been on for 2years.
  9. If Iam not mistaken,I though in some of your pictures,that the budgies were perched on hollow logs. If thats the case & they are trying to breed & there is not enough hollow logs,They wiil fight for the nests. I would be removeing anything that they think they may be able to nest in.I would have a 50 a mix of hens & cocks,in a flight 120cmx400cm.& never had a problem,the other thing have plenty of perch space.
  10. If you want to use ACV,10mils to the ltre,If you use raspberry cordial.use the diet one.it is the best one to use.2-3 days a week,

  12. Very nice Kaz,Pr3 2greygreens I have this thing of pairing 2 sames together & they look short in the mask.But just the same I would'nt knock any of them back.
  13. Just pull the feathers out of the other side,Looking at those feathers,they were due to come out.I you cut the the side they fellout of will grow back & the cut side wont till they fall out.
  14. Are you buying club rings.Or pet supply rings.They have tobe club rings to show.
  15. You need to join a club first & they will help you with all you need to know & they have to have rings on .

  19. Sports are a word used in the Poultry breeding,Dirty white birds with black feathers here & there. Are breed to blue & blacks,in the leghorn breed,to breed a nice soft blue colour.I don't know it would be any help in the budgie breeding.Only more dirty birds.
  20. The bird buyer would buy from our club,4 times a year on average 350 birds.The price paid,is greens $1.80,blues & greys $3.00,yellows & whites $4.50.spangles $5.00, pieds$6.00,Unless you have a good outlet,I would/nt think there would be any money in a budgie farm.
