Breeding Pairs 2010
You might have to check what you are feeding, they may be to fat,was it a young hen or had she layed before. There could be any number of reasons for the prolaspe.

Unwanted Seed Additives.
You will need to keep a watch on the web,as it will stop the seed from comeing out, there was a talk about this very thing at the meeting last night. The self feeders with the glass front, you look at the feeder & think, there is plenty of seed in the hopper, only problem, there is none comeing out as the moths have spun a web accross the opening & no seed is flowing out. I must say,I have never come accross the problem.

My New Cat Morticia.
They have a habit of doing that, taking over as boss of the house. Ours is the boss & for a little cat, she has a loud voice & will let you know if she is being anoid by others in the house hold & will give give a quick swipe with the front paw if needed.

Pink Budgie
The word 'Rainbow' was coined by Keston Foreign Bird Farms who developed the combination of Opaline and Clearwing and they also used available 'yellowface' mutations of the day. Over time the Goldenface, Clearwing, Opaline combination has become the one most associated with the term 'Rainbow'. So when you use the term 'true' you must be aware of the subject matters history or you risk doing what many other do, diseminate false and misleading information. I think there is enough of that out there already. I have personally met Kelwyn some years ago when I took some birds over to show in South Australia. He is a good budgie breeder no doubting that, and I have heard many things, both good and bad, about him over the years but I found most of it untrue as it usually is. I found him to be a rather quite, reserved individual, but willing to discuss anything budgie. To my knowledge he is not a geneticist. As I said earlier they usually have quite a sprinkling of letters after their names which shows the degrees of education they would have to achieve to reach their final goal. Whilst I was visiting SA and doing the customary aviary visits I came across a pair of hens that Kelwyn had mis-identified. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not having a go at Kelwyn, it is just something I see on a regular basis that some top breeders do not have variety recognition skills and and/or the genetic/colour develolpment skills in which to identify the seemingly out of the ordinary occourances. Seeing as you know genetic/colour,what was it that Kelwyn, misread the variety. be very interested,to know & a picture would help. :bump:

Pink Budgie
There are no pink budgie's,if there was they would be worth a lot of money & if they could be breed, they would be about now.

Geelong Auction This Monday
That is some thing,I will bring up at out next meeting, the birds with the eye problem. By the way they sold okay,I just hope the buyers, noticed the eye problem. The birds are there for all to see. PS Lealotta, you were lucky, you did't have to wait till the end of the auction to pick up your bird.As rule the birds are not released till the end of the auction.

Geelong Auction This Monday
The sale average, was $150 65 bidders signed in, Jimmy, I would of said goodday, if I knew you was there. This would of been the best average for about 10 years

Show Cage Training
Splat,if you are going to try the water in the bottem of the cage. find a plastic container, about the same size as the bottem of the cage & fill that with water.he will sit on the perch or hop in the water & have a bath.

Wa State Show & Young Bird Derby
I think the Dcup, wil be as useful as a back pocket, on a jock strap. :budgiedance:
-
Wa State Show & Young Bird Derby
okay I know about the 16mil perches, being fazzed in but I must of missed the bit about the D cups.Is there a reason for the useing the D cups.Marked cages, if you read the rules,it states what can & can't be on the show cage. But it appears in WA they may be a little easer on the cages.
-
Wa State Show & Young Bird Derby
Talk about marked cages, some with seed, no seed a D cup, is this to save on seed or to make it easyer to sweep up,after the show. If so should't it be a standard across all cages, No seed or seed or paper in the bottem of the cage, its a bit hit & miss,by the look of it.

Show Cage Training
An exhibitor, missed out on the Deploma at our show on Saturday, because, the bird would't sit on the perch & when the show was over, he was siting up on the perch like Jacky. The exhibitor said he never had any problem before & had won best unbroken cap at one of the shows. Some get it into there heads, they are going to play up & there not much you can do.

Wa State Show & Young Bird Derby
