Yes Dave is right I am a dog lover and even though I do not have my own dog now only Greg's but when I did have my cavs If i took them for a walk as far as i was concerned it was my responability to scoop up the droppings and the the dogs never left my yard with out me. So I find it degrafeful when you see dog owners walking their dog and letting them poop on someones front lawn or nature strip then walk off and leave it, I personally think it disgusting. And as for cats they should be in cat enclosures or indoors because having birds and not owning a cat why should I have to put up with them jumping the fence every opportunity they get. Which jere is not much. But around here cats do a lot of damage to the wildlife. Anyway I didn't start this to have a hate thing about cats and dogs, I which i never put it up and which it would go away. I just wanted share about the shock I had about the birds and especially since 2 of those birds I had sold and one is my best violet that I won first at the shield and I was hoping to take him back abd try and win best Adult bird in Violet with him. And the way I see it, IF it wasn't for that awful cat jumping the fence and jumping on the aviary the birds would of been fine but now I have 4 birds all up that have damaged their wings . Maybe they are only bruised BUt any way I lost the sale because of that cat also. SO I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE ARKY AT THAT CAT.

Yes it was a cat because we saw it.
  10. Yes Nubbly very pleased as the line is getting really strong but I will have to start focusing on variety soon but I have feather denisty, size , wide heads chest and shoulder in this line. On the other subject of suffusion I used grey opaline spangle to white df spangle and he is really very clean you really clean that he won DF spangle variety awards at different shows and I got suffusion on front and the back of the babies, I did want to put this cock bird with the grey cinn spangle but she wasn't interested so I put her with his brother, the first round there were only 2 fertile eggs but they died in the shell i think they jumped over them to much any way she has just layed 2 eggs and if fertile she will have to reaise them on her own as the cock is going on trip. But I thought he can fill some eggs first which will help me next year and if they babies are anything like his brother I will be excited. BUT seems he is with a grey cinnamon spangle hopefully they will be clean of suffusion.

Greg said if he still had his shot gun that cat would be cat heaven. About 6 years ago before i moved in I rotten dog broke in here and slaughtered nearly all Gregs racing pigeons, anyway it had the cheek to come back the next day for another kill but Greg was waiting and blew it's head off, he has the cartridge in his pigeon coupe for remembrance of the loss and revenge of the killer!!!! Greg was devastated by the loss of his birds the dog which was a big dog killed over 100 birds, Yeras of breeding gone, I think there was a 2 or 3 birds left.
  12. I did use grey Macka, that's why I am surprised that I have suffusion on the front and back, I have never had it on their backs before. But the one with it on the back is rippa of a bird so I don't really care I will put him with a normal next year but then I do not have any normal grey hens, rats.
  13. It's not bad at all Kaz because it's on the other side of the big garage of Gregs, the Garage seems to block that awful after noon sun, so really it's better there in the breeding room than the birds out in the aviary. We are just starting to finish the roof to block out more heat.
  14. I don't have any dilutes but I wanted to to go with the grey cinnamon spangle full sister to the yellow because I believe cinnamon works too, I think that is what Gary Armstrong does, is that write Kaz. But anyway they didn't like each other . I am already planning my pairs for next year as I really don't have much choice as I only have around 24 adult birds left I think.
  15. But I paired him with the grey op sp because he does has slight suffusion Dean, but it turned out worse. With the yellow DF I was told to pair him to a grey hen and all babies will be grey green but then when I use those babies it is meant to get rid of the suffusion. Well I tried that and after the so and so laid 4 eggs she attacked and bit him on his cheek patch so I quickly took him away, much to special to be murder by her. She was the only normal grey hen I have.I already have spangles coming out my ears Thanks 007 but gee I just reread it myself which I should of done befor ei posted it and I am sure this keyboard is alien because the spelling is out of this world. It seems put the wrong letters up, really, I hit the t and a y comes up and if I hit a o up pops a p, gee I don't know must need glasses

TOTALLY agree!!! It's about the behaviour and this often relates back to the owner's/parents. You can make the same 'uneducated' assumtions about human children too... but just because some parents are bad parents and as a result their children are little 'you know what's' doesn't mean that all children are naughty, disrespectful, and do things they shouldn't. Many parents and pet owners are responsible... they bring their cats inside at night, train their dogs to behave and teach their children to respect others. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. It's also a pity, that the later can cause many people to form opinions of the species as a whole. I'd also like to remind everyone to keep this topic to what it was originally about... many members on here have cats and dogs, and a cat v's dog debate can not be won either way. We all have differnt opinions, so going back and forth is doing nothing but taking this topic further off the original post. So, to go back on topic...How are your birds today? Have they been returned back to the aviary or are you keeping them confined a little longer. I totaly agree I have had cat and dogs and for now I will just stick to my birds.RossHow are your birds now Splatthey are fine Ross
  17. I too was wondering the same thing as I was thinking in the kine was Macka and Neville, maybe there was an underline problem.
  18. Thankyou Kaz and jlee I am really happy with the result as I haven't bred many this year
  19. My spangle line is showing great protenal This is where it all started My wow bird he is my foundation cock and i put with a sky spangle and the 1st year I got a yellow DF spangle and a white Df spangle not knowing the protenial I had I sold the white one to MB and I had sold the mother as I didn't like her much but when they turned out nice we worked out who bought the mother and it was an old man that lived here in town so he was willing to give her back to and I gave him 3 hens in replace of her. Any last year she only gave me 2 hens I kept one as an idiot sold the other because Greg reckons she's wasn't much good but she was only 10 weeks old, anyway she's gone forever. This year I put them down and only got clear eggs then she was egg bound and died. Yellow Df spangle thier son and grey cinnamon opaline spangle their daughter So then I put the yellow Df spangle with a cobalt hen and yes I know shouldn't of done that because of her being blue and he suffused but look what I got and thier babies and these photos were taken back in April. This years babies I got 3 yellow DF hens and ! light green spangle and 1 sky blue spangle cock from the 1st round One of the yellow Df spangle hens above belong to the white Df spangle hen above and a dark green spangle son of the yellow Df spangle and my violet. They only had the one and I can't tell them about, i think she is the one with the most suffusion. Second round only 2 babies a white Df spangle that was killed and a sky blue cock and he is nice Then my best white Df spangle from above I paired him with a grey opaline spangle with is the daughter of the grey green spangle cock my founation wow bird. AND this is what I got but they look better than in the photos Oh they ended up with grey suffusion even on their back, I though if you put grey to white they should uen out clean but it turned out worse than white with green or yellow with blue. I got a grey spangle and 2 white Df spangles amd the white one are big birds and they have big wide heads just like thier dad That's all for now add more soon.

I don't know what the law is in this town but when I lived in Bendigo I am sure that was brought over, I even got a cat trap to cat one moggy that use to poop under my clothes line and the washing always smelled like cat poop plus you would nearly stand on it yuk so I chuck the mickey one day and rang the council they had a trap there in no time and I caught the little rotten scandrel that night. They said if no one came forward to claim him they word more than likely rehome if. He was a long haired cat quite nice but I think dumped because his coated was all matted. I fely mean doing this but I couldn't stand hanging the washing out because of the smell

  25. I ahd this problem this year with only one nest the first round she had 3 and the oldest 2 grew normally but the youngest struggled so I put it in another nest but it died that day and then she layed 6 eggs 5 fertile 5 hatched I actually foster out the younger 2 because I thought it was the hens fault but again the youngest was a runt but this one did live flying around now but soooo tiny with no feather, looks like a pet type budgie but all the others are big nice birds with lovely feather, So I am guessing a throw back some where. I will give him to my son for a pet.
