** Quarantine **
Hey all - I have been stewing on a few things lately and the main thing is how People "Quarantine" their NEW ADDITIONS Not just members on here but other breeders I've been too and talk too ( wouldn't call them that now Grrr ) IT IS NOT AS SIMPLE AS PUTTING A BIRD/S IN A SEPERATE CAGE FOR 30 DAYS If you don't want your flock to get sick or worse die, there is more to it... I personally follow the BUDGERIGAR QUARANTINE PROGRAM and have found it effective I haven't yet loss one bird or gotten and sick ones ... If you are a "Breeders" and not a "Egg Hatcher" you put the health of your budgies / birds first !! Before Eggs Below is what Kaz has written and pinned in the Health section and it is also located in the FAQ'S So I am posting this again so that New members and vistors can see the IMPORTANCE of QUARANTINING

Constant Blood Feather Breaks
Hey Michelle, Looking at the end of the quill. I am 85% certain that it looks like french molt - As the end is flat and not a dome Shape like - I had a FM bird a few years back and the vet explained that to me when she did the examine on him - You say that his tails are messed up too - which is leading me to believe that it could very well be FM - But please what for the other more experienced members to comment

Another Pleasant Surprise:
Norm how exciting .... I have no idea about this mutation I was trying to find more information on it a while back when you first showed us your dusks - But I still can't tell the difference with them ... I really hope that you find your answers when they grow into their feathers But you like the rare ones and recessive greys are they easy to come across you might be lucky to have on of those too Look forward to the pictures - Are you able to post pics of what they look like now

Psittacosis In Humans
Heya. I AM FREAKING OUT .... I have been sick for a pretty long time now it's like it comes and goes. with no real beak at all - I have been so worried and scared if it is Psittacosis I am ringing the doctor today to hopefully get an appointment and see whats going on ... I don't think it is But i can not ignore the fact that I have birds - which none of them have show signs of Chlamydia at all But they could be carriers that i am unaware off i guess time will tell

Pet Shop Vs Breeder
My opnion is to go with a breeder S/he will be able to tell you what Sex the bird is What mutation it is Who it's parents are ( so you will know if it is split and what too ) Also they are more friendly I find - They aren't after your money and won't tell you what you want to hear! But tell you what you NEED TO KNOW ..
