Totally agree with removing the Nestbox and eggs, as well as giving a calcium supplement to the hen - sounds like a young hen to me, or it mayinfact be an OLD one as I have hear of this happening to a friend of mine ...... Best bet is to stop the breeding - if need me use fake eggs, marbles, pebbles so the hen then if infact will sit won't hatch anything and will be bored of it - can you post a picture of the couple ????

I can understand the whole birds not having milk and I have perosnally never attempted this, however when chicks hatch and aren't fed by their parent their first fed ( i give them ) is yogurt - which is a dairy based product - ?????

I too find that i have a quicker result with bonded birds who have picked their mates themselves

I agree TB ...... Some ( like me ) can confuse the FM with PBFD ..... which again is another can of worms lol

. Basically it will be a tamed bird as it can't fly... But shouldn't be housed with birds that will breed or that you want to breed, some members have bred with FM budgies and their off springs were fine ... It's one of thoses "what ever you want to do " things .....

MEL, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME !!!! French molt is fine don't breed with it and best to keep as in door bird, or make sure the avairy is set up for a a "special needs" lower perches some ladders and water and see dishes kept where it can get to easily ..
