  1. today was the day as I had displayed sheer laziness and a terrible case of apathy on other days
  2. she is a cinnamon wing so her spots will be brown, and her cheek patches looks purple/violet to me, she I would say she is a yellow faced type 2 mauve opaline cinnamon wing
  3. yes, sore now
  4. Well, the long time posters and lurkers on here will know that I had to have a tree removed mid last year from behind my aviary, so the aviary was moved to a temporary position. Well, I am over it being where it is, it is time to move it back, and to this end, I need to do a new concrete slab. Therefore, I need to fix the area where it is going. Today I removed all the pavers, ripped up the mesh underneath, removed half of the sleepers, and tomorrow I will level it, put in the boundary wood to stop the concrete running all away, and then order the concrete for Thursday ... maybe. Here are some pics of the area. New pics everyday
  5. Good that Quiche is okay, but not good this happened at all.GB, after witnessing a shooting in 1991 where a friend of mine was killed, 8 people all up were killed and 8 others shot but survived, all by a lone gunman, I am very anti-gun. I would not be useful with a gun. Give me a baseball bat and I will dent them though. Look how proudly he is showing off that NSW ring. He is almost ready to come home I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I know how frustrating this has been for you GB. It seems that there is no clear answer here. I know how that goes, I have had that, luckily with a bird I had isolated from the day she came to my place. I do hope that things improve in the future, for your birds, for yourself, and for your kids, who seems very wonderful in understanding that some christmases can be tough, financially, for some families.
  7. if you are trying ot be subtle, than screw drivers are the go. They can be used as part of a long term plan, wire cutters are short term, one off
  8. I am just reading this now for the first time, so Renee, you will have to forgive my tardiness in responding. This is terrible Kaz. I am shocked that people do this. I hope you have not lost any. From a purely selfish point of view, check on Quiche!!!
  9. I am good at naming birds
  10. Ahhh, thus why the offspring is so good. I need to introduce that bloodline into my aviary (wondering when the next auction is?)
  11. The name velvet did seem a little feminine, but in keeping with the fabric thoughts, what about? Suede - more manly than velvet, but still smooth Denim - blue, very casual, but think James Dean Memphis - home of Elvis, and the blue Suede shoes
  12. Kaz, where did you get Santa's Dad? What breeder? I am sure I know, but i cannot remember.
  13. okay, I will do it, I will go on record as saying it HE IS LYING There is no way possible that is normal or a genetic mutation.
  14. Welcome to the forum I am assuming that since you have a photo with all the birds together, then quarantine was not observed. Not that it matters now.
  15. another update Caesar is the current Emperor Potential Pairing? Twitch and Kiwi - the parents of many of my young pieds Young Pieds - bred by me Others bred by me
  16. You are doing a wonderful job Amy. Please do not apologise for the number of pics. I think it is great!!

shot gun to shoot the cat - hang on, go with Kaz's options first.
  18. he has a very good temperament for an only child -
  19. All sounds like it is progressing well. It is hard not to want to check all the time, but it is best not to.
  20. We do love pics, so thank you for starters. I love how enthusiastic you are. I love the fact that you have purchased this reat aviary, and you look at it as a stepping stone to getting to where you want to be with your aviaries. I will enjoy watching this thread grow and develop, as your aviary develops. A famous person once said "To accomplish great things, we must dream as well as act. ". You are doing both, well done!!!!!
  21. With all the baby shots, I forgot to include pics of my greygreen cock bird who is an only child and growing up with his parents in the kindy cage at the moment. Here he is with Mum Two shots on his own.
  22. WOW Fran, I thought Shannon was the only one who asked questions like this one? Of course, I can see you having more success with your response, though it is still very unlikely to receive a yes They all look great. Do they perch well Kaz? (obviously not the littlest one)
  23. The issue that I had once was before that I missed my window by a day, and I could not get a ring on the bird. I have had to use oil on 2 others. Others I rung too early, the rings came off, and by the time i realised, it was too late. I am more cautious now.
  24. I looked at the feet, and they are tiny. I ringed one, but if it comes off, i will do it again. I would rather be early than late. I have put some extra seed in there, and I think feeding will be fine.
  25. The more to come does worry me actually. I am worried that there will be too many in there. This was the last of the breeding pairs that went down, now there are new pairs, but none are even at the egg laying stage yet. i did not stagger my pairs very well I am afraid. I think that potentially at least 2 more eggs are fertile. What to do?
