Show Budgerigars
Richo, I did nto base my judgement on size alone. I based it on head shape, on colours, and mutations, as well as size. Even for a young bird, body shape is all wrong. I know he is stretching, but the front of the head does not change that much. Post a picture of him now. That is the easiest way to show us all.

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
she seems not be the best mother. If you breed her again, might you need to foster the eggs to allow them to remain fee from piercings and addling?

Show Budgerigars
I think Richo obviously realises that a lot goes into a show budgie. His first thing he is looking at is the length. Richo, if you think that the bird in your avatar is a show budgie, and might have been accidently culled, then you need to think again.

What Happens To Budgies In Pet Shops If They Are Not Sold?
Hi pebbiz72, from what I have witnessed here, breeders are only too willing to send birds by freight, it is quite common so perhaps look into that? Keep your eyes open and you will have a crack'in stud in no time. Cheers If you buy one it is not worth it, unless it is a really good bird, but you can buy a few at one time and have them shipped to you. It does nto cost that much. From Sydney to Perth only costs about $60

Breeding Pairs 2010
It is exciting. The weather has been very good. About 30-ish degrees today, but that was only around midday, clouded over by 2pm. Meant to be a wet january. Thank you. I have learnt a lot in a year, plus I have had a very good teacher. Let me say very honestly, most of the help I have had and the things I have learnt have initially started on this forum. I may have read other books and things, and I had previously bred pet types, but my club has been no where as helpful as this forum. As for the cinnamon wing green hen, she is very nice isn't she?

:hi: dont you means cms ? I really hope it is centimetres, otherwise not just my birds, but kaz's birds, renee's birds, ***, birds of a lot of top breeders that I have seen, are going to fail to meet the desired length requirements. Maybe if i crossbred my budgies with, I don't know, a flamingo -

Breeding Pairs 2010
Been a big day in the breeding aviary A birth - the second egg from Bruticus and the albino has hatched, and it is another plum-eyed chick, so it seems that we have 2 cinnamons. The thing is, from what I know, there is no cinnamon in the hen's background, whilst I know the cock is split for cinnamon as his dad was a cinnamon, so all the cinnamons are hens. In their first clutch, they only had 2 chicks. One was cinnamon and the other wasn't. Both were opaline, and it seems that both are hens. Now this clutch looks to be batting two for two with hens. It is harder to get hens, so this is good, however I bought the hen so I could initially breed some cocks that were split ino, and grey. No cocks so far from this pair. Also some new pairs were put down. Pics below. More pairs and pics to come tomorrow

Breeding Pairs 2010
Well, the 2009 year ended, so the thread ended. A good breeding year, my first with show budgies. With the new year, there will be new pairs, but to start off, the pairs that remain in the breeding room. Bruticus and his Albino hen have a few eggs, one of which has hatched so far. This is their second clutch, so it is their first for this year, and their last for a little while. There are a couple of fostered eggs in there. By the time they are ready to hatch, other pairs will be down to assist. My Dark Green cock, his GreyGreen Hen and their little GreyGreen male chick from their second cock. They are both in good condition and are in the kindy cage to give the little one some company, and also to allow them to regain some strength before heading back into the aviary. New pairs will hopefully go in tomorrow, so more pics will come then.

Need To Bake Eucalyptus Branches?
You are very right, Shauna, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and their right to express it. I have just reread the entire thread with all the replies, and I do not think anyone has personally attacked you, they have just offered their opinions. It might be different to yours, they might feel yours is extreme, but it is their right to disagree with you. As for vets, I know, and we have discussed it on here multiple times, that many vets recommend pellets for the birds, as opposed to seed. A lot of us disagree with this thinking, and thus disagree with vets who believe this. My point is this, a vet may be trained as an expert in a field, but that does not mean his knowledge is always going to be correct. Remember, there were once "experts" who thought the world was flat. Personally I want to thank you for your long post. Whilst I do not agree with your methods, or rather, they are not methods I will employ, I thank you for expressing them just the same.

What can you do if a birds starts turning its toe back the wrong way? I mean, you can not really correct it can you?

Sick?
There are a lot of different vitamins and supplements you can buy, but you do not know if they are doing any good without a proper diagnosis of what is wrong.
