  1. I think this is fine, the second trimming
  2. You wish Cec has requested a chick from this pairing. Cec who? I know no one by that name. I know of a great guy named Dave
  3. They are a good place to get what you need, I have been there multiple times and I work at a school just around the corner, so it is convenient.
  4. 11 is a lot of eggs for one hen. You have 3 hens with 6, 4 and 1 respectively. That is not that many. I am not sure the egg laying has stopped there. You should expect more. I only have show birds and one has layed 7 eggs so far, so expect more from the pet types.
  5. good to hear Let's not forget to ring this one correctly this time okay?
  6. I know what you mean. For me, my dog was like that. I had had Tess for 1 week, she was 10 weeks old, when she got something caught in her throat. 4 days and $2500 later, she was right to come home. I would have spent twice as much, and would do it again any day of the week.
  7. he is looking good the name will remain quiche regardless of gender
  8. yes, my fingers are crossed too. Sometimes the best looking birds don't always have the best luck
  9. Stopping calcivet will not cause this. It must have had something else wrong. Was it thin?
  10. Curious minds want to know. Simple as that.
  11. Is there a reason you want her out of the nesting box? Can she not stay in there with her siblings? I have had chicks that did not want out, to the extent that mother was happy to have particular chicks stay in there, even when she was laying eggs and sitting on them. Give this chick a couple more days in the nestbox. Put some seed on the floor on the nestbox so she can learn to pick at it herself.
  12. I am going to ask the question everything who reads this is thinking....... How much did Surgery cost?
  13. Greygreen chick is almost ready to fledge permanently. He is a good looking little thing. 7 eggs now for Albino hen and Bruticus. :emoticon112: tomorrow
  14. If Dave doesn't want him be prepared for an influx of PM's :baby: The only reason Kaz says that maybe I do not want him is in the hope that I say no, and she can keep him :emoticon112: Not going to happen Karen!!!
  15. Only way to get more male than that was if the bird was humping your leg - :emoticon112:
  16. normal green hen x type 2 yellow face gray opaline Offsrping would be: 100% greygreens all hens will be opaline. Now, this is assuming there are no splits. For example, the grey boy might be a single factor grey, so he is split for blue. If the green is also split for blue, there is a 25% chance you could get blues. You could also get greens, greys or greygreens. Without knowing parentage, the simplest answer is the one I typed first - 100% greygreens
  17. Daryl, I really hope that you are right. If you are, I will gladly come on here and do a rendition of "Dude looks like a lady" :emoticon112:
  18. i wish 10 was normal. The large number of eggs that Omelette lays, as well as the quality of young she produces, makes her abnormally special. I wish I had a hen like that. Most I have ever had in one nest was 5, and I fostered 2.
  19. You have come a long way in a short time with your greywings Kaz. I think you under rate your own chances. The beauty of the niche market is that you are not competing with everyone, only a small group. If you bred good greens, blues or greys, then it would be much harder
  20. Meringue Dave Teachers who cant spell are a worry I am a IT teacher. If I don't know a word, spell check will help me (he says, hoping people will ignore the fact that he is also a Food Technology teacher) Quiche is looking like a big strong man more and more every day. Maybe we should have called him Benedict, for eggs Benedict, rather than Quiche
  21. you might suprise yourself kaz.
  22. 6 is not many, and so far only 2 look fertile. I am hoping for 4 to hatch.
  23. Got some more doxy at the vet, so that is good I noticed that the pin feathers coming through on my young birds look longer than their current feather. I am told this is a good sign. are below This little guy thought he was ready to fledge. I said no. I put him back in the box. He is a greygreen cock from the looks of things. Six eggs to bruticus and his albino hen in their second round so far.
  24. Good job. They are fun. Your first attempt is not that far off my dogs.
