  1. I am sorry Mirren if you thought I was being harsh. That was not my intent. The recommendations for colony breeding is that for every pair of birds, you have twice the number of required nestboxes. The reason I was wondering about the nestbox as you said you had moved the mating pair to a seperate cage (which is very sensible and the absolute right thing to do), thus why I was wondering about the nestbox. Hens, even if they do not have a mate, will fight for the best position, so even if there is only 1 pair in there capable of breeding, fighting, and possible death could well be the outcome. No one wants that to happen. You cannot be upset about me asking about what I thought were posts, but you corrected me and said they were coconuts. You yourself removed them after you took the photo. It is impossible for me to know you removed them without telling us, and yet again, i was simply suggesting hey be removed to save future bloodshed. Anyone who puts information up on the world wide web needs to be aware that since there is no tone or punctuation accompanying the words, it is very easily to misinterpret what is typed. Mirren, as stated before, I did not mean to offend you in any way by my words. If I did, I really apologise. I do hope that you return to the forum.
  2. How many birds in your cage? Only 1 nestbox? Why is it in there at all? Those hanging pots will look like great places to breed to the birds - leading to more fighting. Time to make your cage suitable for your birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Being ignored by "experts", people getting your name wrong after overa year, wondering why you give up your time...... everyone has different expereiences!!!
  4. It depends how badly damaged it is Often they go into shock after, so takign him to the vet might be a good idea. Clean up the damaged beak, even with water, and check it carefully. It is good that he can eat, but I would be getting him checked out if I was you.
  5. I would not worry that some birds seem bonded to others. If you are going to breed them in the future, when put together in a breeding cage, the pairs will hook up. Bonding in an aviary is not a life time commitment -
  6. Often with our birds, there is a large learning process. You are doing well, fear not.
  7. One of our young members awhile back had just started his aviary and budgies when his father got a job at a poultry place and the son was made to give up his budgies because of that contract thing. As the guy who bought Aaron's aviary, I was very pleased with his Dad's employment in the poultry industry :budgiedance:
  8. Well, the tiling job is done. I will let the grout dry and tomorrow I will do a complete wipe down with a wet mop. I need to buy a steam mop now, but that is an easy cheap thing to do. I am going away to Yr7 Camp on wednesday until friday, so next weekend I will move furniture back in. New photos tomorrow.
  9. progressive photos
  10. Well, the tiles are all down, or up in terms of the shower and laundry walls, and the grouting is being completed. Photos will come later in the day, but I am very pleased with the way it is all turning out.
  11. I still like Frannie the best. If you feel she is not up to the class of Nubbly, please send her my way -
  12. You did the best you could with him and gave him a good life. This is one of the problems with the feather dusters. Even when their protein is kept up and they are given a good life, there is no way to ensure that they will survive something as simple as a feather loss.

Well, I am going to ruin the whole "Cosmic balance/intoxicating drink made from the root of a polynesian plant debate" and go with the "I do not believe in Karma" debate. I am a Christian who does not believe in the cosmic roundabout that good things happen and bad things happen and the universe weighs us all up. Call me old fashioned or traditional or whatever you like, but I believe that there is a God who will judge us at the end of our lives on what we have done. That is what I believe. I do not preach, I often do the wrong thing, I know I am far from perfect, but I know that God loves me.
  14. It was nice, but the carpet was impossible to keep clean. The dogs had no problem with it, but it seems that was because they were the ones leaving the muddy little footprints everywhere. One of my dogs occassionally throws up, due to an allergy, so there were multiple carpet stains as well The new tiles will be a similar colour to the carpet, well the clean sections anyway. Rugs will remain, furniture all comes back, only tiled, not carpet. It will be less dusty as well as the carpet traps the dust.
  15. I think they will disappear.
  16. I think that's what I mean ...I'm a budgie mutation newbie, remember??? Does it mean something different the other ways? I might be wrong, but I refer to the a bird as having one or two dark factors, not single or double dark factors.
  17. I am really lookng forward to these pictures
  18. DF in terms of dark factors, I am assuming that is what you are talking about, not DF spangle or DF Dominant Pied.
  19. I am back at work, started wednesday. Kids are back at school (not my kids, they are imaginary, I am a teacher) so it pretty much is all systems go!!!
  20. My house previously looked like this Today we moved out all the furniture out, ripped up the carpet in the lounge room and dining room, and also ripped up the vinyl in the kitchen Getting the floor tiled next week. Very exciting.
  21. Nubbly is look great
  22. Kaz, I just want to say thank you for the bible quote.
  23. Wow Renee, I just read this from start to finish, and it is shame the way you have presented yourself. I know that you have been nice to me, and you gifted me a young hen once, who unfortunately did nto make it, but that is neither here nor there. I am someone who has only been in a club for a little over a year, and I have found that some people are not very helpful. It is a shame that you have decided to join this group. Nubbly once did me a very good deal and sold me 7 clearwings and a split clearwing boy, all for a very good price. I realised that there was too much work for a novice like myself in breeding clearwings, so I onsold them...to you actually. I provided you with all the info. I am sure if you wanted other info, Nubbly would provide it. I did not consult Nubbly about selling them, I did not think I had to. She said she was suprised to see you had them. I raise this as I do not see this as being that different from what you are saying about someone buying your bird in SA. If I sold my clearwings to a pet shop and somone bought them, should Nubbly be insulted? I think you have a bee in your bonnet, unnecessarily over a bird and a person, and I think you are using it to vent. Do not take you anger out on the new people who are getting into this hobby. New, inexperienced people need all the help they can get.
