Hi Vonn, check with your local nurserys to see if there are Australian eucalypts available in the UK. I would be surprised if there weren't as the early explorers had botanists in their midst and a lot of samples were taken back to the 'motherland'. Most eucalyps are very fast growing and are very large trees, whilst small and in a pot you would need fairly easy draining soil as most of them dislike soggy roots and, in fact, do well in drought conditions once established. They are very light for DF spangles, usually DF spangles are a hot yellow colour. like this one: They look almost as light as creaminos. Very interesting. Feathers.

You can take him to the vet in a normal cage, just lower the perch and covering it with a blanket will help to keep him calm during the trip. If you have one of the little boxes that pet shops give you to take a bird home that would do too. They are small and dark and designed to stop them from stressing while they are being transported. As Kaz said, baby oil on his legs will help with the scale and he will thank you for it. Feathers.

My exhibition budgies got a large cut off peppermint tree branch, with lots of interesting twigs sticking out everywhere on it for their playground today. It has been sitting in my back yard for a while, so no leaves on it, but the budgies are all going crazy on it anyway. They are having great fun stripping the bark off it. Feathers.

I have just gotten back from a lovely afternoon at the Budgiebird Hilton with Kaz, Cheeta, The Pie and Mandy to find that another of my pairs have started laying. Tealah and Bean have 1 egg now: Couldn't tell whether Jade laid number 6 or not as she refused to get off her eggs, so I let her be and I will check tomorrow. Jewel added another egg to her clutch yesterday, so she is at egg 4, 3 good, 1 damaged. Feathers.

Could you just pack up the dom pied girl, Jubilee(second photo), and send her over here please. I would love to have her in my flock. The first and last birds would be good over here as well. As far as mutations go it would be easier to tell if the photos were taken at a time when the light was more even, rather than late afternoon it looks like. The bird that you have listed as a DF spangle looks like it has a male pink cere, but I can't see clearly enough. If it is I would say it is a lutino. The second last may be a clearwing, but again I can't see enough of it to say properly. Side on photos that show front and back and the cere of each would be useful. Feather.

Hi Jackie, welcome to the BBC forum, this is a fantastic place to be if you love budgies (and other birds). It is great that Beep has settled in so well. Now you just need to get her used to your hand being in the cage. Hang a little millet spray in the cage every couple of days, so she gets used to this yummy treat. Talk to her whenever you are around her and always move your hand carefully around in her cage when you change the food and water so that she isn't scared of your hand. Once she is used to you and used to your hand being in the cage start to offer millet holding it between your fingers so that she has to step onto you to eat it, but keep your hand still while she is there. This could take a week or two, but it is more likely to take a month or two as she is older. Just don't give up and be consistant in the way you handle her.
