Baby Bred By Champions
That was a great idea to put it in the toddler aviary. The inside works much better than the outside too I love it. I wonder if Pascale (my runner) would like one. Feathers

Males Split To Opaline
I have at least 8 that I know don't have splits and one that is split for ino. But they have not been bred in budgie farms, they come from registered show breeders. For sure, there are a lot of splits around, but to say most are split for opaline was a bit of an exageration. Feathers.

Cere Question
Sounds fairly normal, Jules. When it goes darker (and probably a bit crusty looking) it is when she is in breeding condition. Out of breeding condition the hens can range from white with blue edges, through tan to brown. Feathers.

Lesson Learnt
I am so dumb I read that and thought you were being funny... you know, connect the budgies to it... duh Then I remembered there was some talk about an automatic door closer for the aviary [ka-ching] Bit slow, feathers......

Males Split To Opaline
Well, that bit I don't agree with However, it is very interesting. I shall have to look to see if any of my budgies that I am pairing display any hint of opaline. Certainly food for thought. Feathers.

Clearbody Genetics
Yep, from everything I has read, clearbody works the same way as any other sex linked gene. so: Clearbody Cock X Clearbody Hen = CB Cocks = CB Hens CB Cock X Normal Hen = Normal/CB Cocks = CB Hens Normal Cock X CB Hen = Normal/CB Cocks = Normal Hens Normal/CB Cocks X Normal Hen = Normal Cocks = Normal/CB Cocks = CB Hens = Normal Hens NB: Visually you will not be able to tell which normals are also split for the CB gene Normal/CB Cocks X CB Hen = CB Cocks = Normal/CB Cocks = CB Hens = Normal Hens Just to confuse things a bit more, we can add the clearbody split inos... CB/INO Cock X Clearbody Hen = CB Cocks =Clearbody/INO Cocks = CB Hens = Ino Hens NB: Visually you will not be able to tell which Clearbodies are also split for the INO gene CB/INO Cock/INO Hen = CB/INO Cocks = Ino Cocks = CB Hens = Ino Hens Anyone confused yet? Calculating The Percentage Of The Babies In A Pair
Thanks Ellulah, It took a while. It will be uploaded into our FAQ section in the next 24 hours. Feathers.

Clearbody Genetics
Clearbody is a sex linked trait, so to get 100% you need a white clearbody hen and a white clearbody cock. any other combination and you could still get splits Have a look at the table in this post: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....topic=14813&hl= Feathers.

Mammoth
Wow, lots of birdies in that nest "Excuse me Dad, I'm trying to fly" I love how he sometimes leaves his tailfeathers fanned between goes. Feathers.

Konrad Is Sick
Hi Again, the reason that I think that she's probably okay is because she bobbed her head up and down before she threw up. Bobbing their head is what they do to regurgitate food. When they throw up it is more violent and shoots out more forwards, not the head shaking side to side. It seems more like she was trying to bring up the seed herself. Keep an eye on her and see how she goes. What you need to do is find an avian vet. Most vet know very little about birds. Whereas an avian vet specialises in birds. Feathers.

Konrad Is Sick
Hi, Your Konrad is a lovely girl budgie As she comes into mating condition her cere will turn a tan and then a brown colour. If she has been alright today I would just keep an eye on her. it does sound like something in or on her beak was annoying her. If the itch continues I would take her to the vet to be checked for mites. Feathers. ps. she is very pretty
