  1. Hi Neat, Just adding one of mine called Graye.. He's a gorgeous boy, currently in a breeding cabinet! Feathers.
  2. Hi Kaz, The peppermint trees in my area were being trimmed by the local council a couple of weeks ago, so my budgies got a big treat of peppermint branches and leaves as well. They not only demolish the leaves, they LOVE to strip the bark as well! Feathers.
  3. Hi Dave, They are both GREAT looking birds, but Oscar especially looks fantastic! Feathers.
  4. Hi Sarah, Conan is gorgeous. His personality reminds me of my inside budgie Kazumi. Kazumi talks all the time, but most of it is in martian! I'm sure if I listened closely enough that I would recognise a lot of his words. Now that you have a second budgie you may find that he starts talking more budgie and less human, he may also prefer the company of his feathered friend too. He's going to love Zeus. Feathers.
  5. Hi Kathy, he looks like an inquizative little bird! Feathers.
  6. The first chick I ringed, it ended up on the left leg, so I have been doing the left leg ever since! Not a virgo, but a very pedantic perfectionist Feathers.
  7. Thanks Pie and Elly. I did miss being around and was reading the posts every now and then. Amira only has a light tan cere at the moment, so she has a little time to start her quarantine before being confined to a breeding cabinet. We were thinking of introducing her to a few suitable partners and see who she fancies as she may be selective, either that or the mate I had her with was inexperienced. It is nice to breed in collaboration with Kaz, something I would like to do more of in the future, in particular when I get right into exhibition breeding. Feathers.
  8. My beautiful albino Amira has run away to find her perfect partner! She didn't like her split ino partner, so after a couple of spells in a breeding cabinet with him she has run away to Kaz's place to find a budgiebloke she loves. This is the beautiful bird, herself.... Amira means Princess! Feathers

Hi thk, Charley is doing so well! As for cere colours, it is much easier once they are older. Feathers.
  10. Hi Lucy, the albino is a blue based bird and the recessive pied split to lutino would also therefore be split for blue. Feathers.
  11. Vicky, your budgies will absolutely love you, giving them such a brilliant cage (yes, I have one like that too). With mine, I put the perches on either side of the cage, to give them flying room in between and put the food and water containers down low in the middle, where they weren't under perches to get pooped on. This helped them to use all the space in their cage and get good exercise. Feathers.

Yep, As Kaz said, any bird shop, rather than a pet store. Or, if you want to wait until after christmas, I believe Daz makes some of the best around, he is just a little busy right now Feathers.
  13. [kneels down and bows down to Macka, hands outstretched] This is what I LOVE about you, Macka. Straight down the line, no surprises Next time I'm in Melbourne I'd love to catch up over a counter meal or coffee Feathers.
  14. Hey Lucy, they are looking absolutely fantastic. Well done Feathers.
  15. Hi Koolmint, unless you supply a nestbox or an item they could use for a nest, it is highly unlikely that they will breed, even if you see them "having sex". As Kaz puts it, budgies do have "recreational sex" without producing eggs. They should be fine. Feathers.
  16. It does, doesn't it, and yes, he is I love the picture of him shaking as his whole lower beak is exposed, he looks so small and funny in that picture. Feathers.
  17. ditto [starts banging fists on table and chants] why are we waiting Seriously though, it sounds fantastic. I absolutely loved it when I had an indoor budgie room for breeding. Feathers
  18. Sailor, yes, I saw that. When you mentioned it I looked up the bone structure of birds and saw that they had a carpal and then metacarpal and philanges at the tip of their wings, amazing! Feathers.
  19. That is hillarious!! Feathers
  20. Phoebe, I thought so too.... both wings out to the side and flapping... gets your whole back wet when you do that Feathers.
  21. Bottom two very definitely say boy. But then look at these two photos of Kazumi... front on.. looks like a girl front on again, definitely a boy Feathers.
  22. yeah Kaz, I was going to ask for a front shot... the blue is very dark, but the to of the cere, side on looked female. I guess a front shot will give us the 'secret of the cere' Feathers.
  23. Raven, SHE is a girl.. and a gorgeous one at that... nasty people..keeping her in a little cage Feathers EDIT:Oh, it looks like I started my reply as Kaz was finishing her.. and I thought female [shrugs] zooming up though, it looks like I could be wrong
  24. Hi Elly, yes, you are a judge for the October BOM, it would be better to save it for November Feathers.
  25. Hi there, I am really sorry that you lost Sammi, sometimes it is just too fast and they are gone before you know what happened. Keep an eye on the hen and the little ones. Feathers.
