  4. Today I was out in the new aviary, still getting it ready for the birds. I took Chucky and Chloe(my tiel) out with me. When i had finished what I was doing I tried to pick Chucky up but she did not want to leave she was having too much fun exploring and using the bath!!! I think she thought it was a motel room or something!! This is a picture of her 'not' getting on my finger like a good girl!!! She made her angry noise at me and bit my finger!!! So I closed the aviary door and left her there!!! When I went back this is how I found her, all fluffy after her nap at the MOTEL DE BUDGIE!!! I had to literally grab her to bring her back inside!! Cheeky little girl!!!

  12. I clip Chucky's wings and they grow back really quickly, not just when she moults. Is she weird. The vet showed me where to cut so and she doesn't fly. Is chucky weird?

Alot of cages come flat packed and the petshops actually put them together. Maybe you could ask your local pet shop in the US to get some that are flat packed and ship them over flat with all your other stuff.
  14. I don't even know who the father of my bubs are. Matilda is a bit of a tart and heheh well we will just have to wait and see what the bubs look like I suppose
  15. Thank you. I have decided due to all your fine advice that I am just going to let nature take its course and with fingers crossed the mum will continue feeding the baby and all will be well.
  16. It is her first clutch. I think I will wait and see how she copes over the next few days. Thanks for your advice.
  17. Yeah thats what i thought maybe i should put only females into the new aviary?
  18. So is it possible that Jack Sparrow(the yellow bird in my picture) if bred could possibly produce a violet baby even tho he is bright yellow with a green tinge? please give me some budgie genetic smarts!!! hehehe
  19. I didn't breed this little guy. I got him from a friend who did and i know that the father was a bright yellow and bright green, like the bird in one of daz's pics. The mother was in the nest and i didn't see her. I have 2 more just like him.
  20. The blue feet look like cold feet.
  21. The vet said the hernia will not allow the egg to pass. Therefore getting stuck. So I don't want to risk it. You are right I might just seperate them and see what happens over the next few days. Oliver also has a friend George (heheh) so maybe he will keep Olivers mind off Gloria. Thanks for your advice.
  22. And what is mela...mela....nin? hehe
  23. Some of you might remember my budgie Gloria who I thought was egg bound but after taking her to the vet found out she had a hernia. Well anyway she has been spending her days for the last few weeks in a cage inside my aviary so Oliver her gorgeous fat boy of a lover (i must post a picture of him) cannot 'get' to her. I have now put up another aviary and was wondering of i didn't put nesting boxes in this aviary would it be okay to put Gloria and Oliver in there with other birds. The vet said that because of the hernia an egg cound not pass and it would probably kill her. He spends all day sitting on her cage talking to her through the bars. It just hurts me that she has to stay in a small cage when she can see the others flying around. Would Oliver be heartbroken if I was to move Gloria and leave him where he is. Heeheh this sounds like days of our lives. If I put males and females in my new aviary but do not supply nest boxes, is it true that they will not breed. I have heard a few stories about egg laying on the ground tho. hmmmm bit confused. haha
  24. I have noticed recently that some of my budgies have bluish feet and the others pink feet. Is this because of certain mutations? Pink Feet Blue Feet
  25. Can someone please tell me what exactly is involved in hand rearing a chick. What do I need to keep the baby in, what do I feed it and how often, how warm should the baby be kept. I am worried about a baby I have. The mother is not in the nest that much but is feeding it. I picked the baby up this morning and its crop was full but it was very cold. I am not sure how old the bird is, I would say a week at the oldest. Should I just leave it in and let nature take its course and let the mother keep doing as she is? Any tips and information would be greatly appreciated. Jodie (cheekychucky)
