On the weekend I had to give Stubby's cage a thorough clean out so I put him in Chucky's cage while i finished. I have been wanting to put them together for a while now so thought this would be a perfect opportunity to see how they reacted to the move. This is Stubby in his new home. This is Chucky just letting Stubby know she is boss (I will post some more pictures later) Anyway Stubby has lived in that cage ever since and we have had minimal upsets and only a few tantrums when it comes to sharing. They have both been very good. I was worried that Chucky would not want to come out of her cage if she had company in there but she still goes bananas at the cage door when she wants to come out and play. Yesterday we left the cage door open for Chucky but Stubby decided he wanted to go on an adventure. I was quite worried as he has never been outside of his cage. (He is a very nervous and timid little character) He climbed all over the outside of the cage and chewed on some rope and looked awfully proud of himself...........until i had to go to work.I couldn't get him to go back in!!!!!! He took off and went plop to the floor!!! The poor baby. I picked him up finding it awfully difficult because he has this really bad habit of spreading his wings so you can't grip him. Finally after a struggle and 3 chunks taken out of my finger, I managed to get him back in. I don't know who was more worse for wear me getting worried that I had hurt the little bugger and my poor finger or the scare that he would have gotten from being held. Since then he has stuck his head out the door but runs away pretty fast. I wish you all could meet Stubby just so you could understand him. I wonder what his previous owners were like......

I have a rather large walk in aviary which is sitting but not joined to a concrete slab. I am wanting to move the avairy onto the grassed area at the back of my yard but I'm wondering if that is suitable for the birds. How much harder would it be to keep clean? I am really getting paranoid about mice too as 3 eggs have simply vanished from the nest box Also If i was to get quails of some sort will they help to keep the avairy floor cleaner in between proper cleans which I do regularly? What do I need to provide for them in the way of food and where do they sleep? hmmm what to do......what to do...........

A few weeks ago we had a close call with Chucky. She often plays on her gym which is on our table. We had just had dinner. She is forever exploring and climbing over things. We got up to do the dishes when we heard a funny noise. Chucky had climbed onto the rim of the glass which was half full of coke and had fallen head first in. The glass had to be tipped upside down to get her out. We were very lucky and so was she. We gave her a bath and she seemed fine. Even to this day she tries to get the drink out of the glass....she didn't learn anything from her near drowning experience........I sure did. :beer: We know now that all she wanted was a bath!!! hehehe If she ever tries to get in our drinks we put a bowl of water out and she splashes wildly in it.

I'm afraid when my first babies emerge from the nest I will not be able to part with them. They are all toooooo gorgeous!!!! I just love lil bubby budgies!!!

When I was about 8 i wrote a letter to my grandpa asking 'pretty please can I have a budgie?' I don't know why but i never got one then hehehe. So about 17 years later i went out and bought myself a gorgeous little guy I called Buddy! He was awesome the best pet I had ever had. He was such a chatterbox!! He used to make up his own sentences with the words he knew. He was so clever. My shadow. He used to always come outside with me but this one day he just flew away. I cried for a week. So we had to fill the hole that lil buddy left so that is why we have Chucky now. Hehehe She is too gorgeous. Well having one budgie led to having 4 budgies and now I have 17 budgies and I wouldn't have it any other way. They always look so happy. Little clowns with wings.

I'm learning so much from you lovey. I only knew about his spot because you had asked someone else if their budgie had one. This made me go out and check all my birds. Thanks so much

The little blue guy has a white spot on the back of his/her head. Is this a pied spot?

I thought about putting some nail polish on the little guy, but didn't want to get tooo close ewwww. I hope i catch his family tonight!!!!!!

Well i was very brave and released it far away from the house over the road and down the street. Heheheh i had to cover the trap with a towel so the mouse didn't touch me!!! I would die if it did!!!! I just hope its not a homing mouse(like the homing pigeons) or I might be in trouble

Hi I bought these mouse traps from a bird sale. I put a little bit of peanut butter into the cage of the trap, put it in the place i knew the yucky mousies have been and voila!!! a mouse!!!!!!!! Here is the photo evidence!!! This is the trap. Gotcha!!!!

I love her green belly!!! Very cute. In my experience I would claim that she is definately a female because of her brown cere. I hope I'm correct!!

I basically have that same cage. I only bought it yesty. It cost me $178aus. It just has different doors. It is on a stand with wheels too. I am using it as a Quarintine cage and after as a nursery. Its an awesome cage. The birds love it. Your gorgeous birdies look very happy!!!!

Thanks lovey you are sooo clever!!!! There is no spot on her so she must be a normal. There are 2 white ones the young one and then the one in the'what you lookin at' picture. Then the white with faint blue. I'm thinking of breeding some of them once they get out of Quarantine. When i got up this morning they were all playing and singing. I think they love their new home!!!!!

Today I went to a bird sale and bought 7 new budgies!!!!! They are so cute!!! I have only named one. The green one Slimey!!! I even went out and bought them a huge new cage to spend their Q time in. My babies have to be comfortable. So here are some pics of them. Introducing.........................SLIMEY AND THE GANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is Slimey!!!! This guy has a really faint green through his front and back This one has very faint blue through the body and back but when glanced looks white This lil one may be pretty young yeah? I gotta admit I did have a bit of a chuckle when I saw his picture!!! He looked soooo cute!!! I am on the look out for a yellow face blue. They are adorable. mwa mwa to lil oscar!!
