  1. Well Julie....first thing don't give up..........I know of breeders as well as myself who haven't had a good start to the year..........I along with others have had 20-30 unfertile eggs this year.......no one seems to no why.....it's like sometimes when breed you get majority males sometimes a lot of females....who knows....may be just nature. I f your bird are at a breeding age just keep going.........things may change.....Last year I had a pair that gave me 16 babies out of 16 eggs.........this year they have given me 8 infertile eggs.....but I'll let her have another lot of eggs and see how they go...
  2. Well I don't know about names..........but I do know what are good looking birds.....and you have them. Congratulations

Hi Loren....you have some mighty fine birds there....they look grate. It's nice to find someone else who live in Heathridge as well. Love to see more photos.
  4. You have got to be joking.......this is awesome....Daz you must be one lucky person to be able to visit.... what I would describe as inspiring.
  5. Thanks for that macka.............how short would i cut around the vent? to expose it all? I'm not sure.
  6. If you didn't have a name for him already.....Boof would seem apropriate.
  7. Yep....well they were all clear.........I cracked them open.........and what a shame the big one was a double yoke. Well I guess I should put her with another male. I've just noticed in the last couple of days that the male loves having relations on the breeding cabinets frame work.........thats probably why her eggs were clear.....to busy with the cage not enough with the girl..... What a dumb bird... Oh well...thats life...
  8. Well I haven't cracked them open yet.......however when you put them to the light...they are clear. But tomorrow I'll crack the big one open to see if it was a double yoke.
  9. Hi peoples, I posted a topic about the size of eggs one of my girls was laying. So here they are.....the sad thing is that none are fertile would have loved to seen what was in the big one.
  10. Well must I say...........Kaz and Feathers it sounds like you had a top day........how exciting being able to bid...then your bid wins........How cool. Well you lucks ducks..........I would love to see more photos as they settle in........ooo and can't wait for when you put them down to breed. Well Done to the both of you.
  11. Hi karen this is an interesting subject. A grey green hen that I bread...has layed 4 eggs only...3 are a good size...1 is double the size... Well here's hoping they are fertile. If not I'll check to see if they are double yokes.
  12. Oh! Karen.......what a disaster.....Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Don't know what else to say.
  13. MegumiA .....How much does that treatment cost.
  14. What worming solution do you use Kaz? I'm using Avian Science Worm Aid... you give it in their water for 24 hours....then 14 days repeat the same dosage. Are worms hard to get rid even with the worming agent. This is the first time any birds that I have owned has had worms. It is disappointing to say the least. I have been using Elliotts but I think they are all the same really. If a bird is visually affected I deliver the dose by crop needle straight into the crop. You see the difference in the bird the next day. I also treat the whole aviary once a month with drinkable ivermectin in the water. Any bird that has come from a soil floor aviary or has had an open aviary that allows wild bird droppings to get in WILL have worms. Worms work on a cycle, so a repetitive treatment is best. If you have an inside budgie only once or twice initially is all you seem to need. Where do you buy the ivermectin from the stuff I've got is from the pet shop and it doesn't mention dosing the bird straight up maybe I need what your got.

  19. Does anybody know what the colour is this bird, it's a weird colour.
  20. Here in Perth one of the main predatory birds to watch out for is called a BUTCHER BIRD. It is the size of a small parrot, about 20cm to 30cm tall, pointed beak like a magpie. It lives in our suburban areas and will hang around aviaries or bird cages if you leave them hanging up outside. The budgies know the butcher bird is an enemy, I've been outside with the budgies when their all happy singing away. Then all of a sudden they all go quiet, I have looked around and and sure as anything there is the butcher bird.

When my birds are finished with it, all that is left, is like a fine flour.
  22. Awesome Feathers,, what a great set up in your room. I think you are going to be pretty happy with the end result that you will get. All beuatiful birds,,,the Albino and Sky blue,,,what great chicks you'll get from them. We want heaps of photos when they start hatching. Best of luck
