Maybe I'll pinch both Golly & Vinnie when I win Lotto & hop on a plane! I can hardly wait until my aviary quarantine is over & the psittacosis danger has passed! I desperately want some baby budgies!!

His last one was great too! Very professional and super clean inside & the set-up for the breeding cages was great! I was incredibly impressed when I saw it. Can't wait to raid see Daz's setup when he's finished & all the birds are set up.

Do you weigh your babies Karen? I'd be really interested to know how their weight has fluctuated over the weeks & for a couple weeks after fledging.

No hosing allowed under water restrictions. I dunked them in a small amount of fidowash in a bucket. Some naughty birds went and jumped in the dirt , that was why I had to put them in a cage to stop this! I think there is around 42 birds in there of 4 different species, have no fear I didn't leave it unattended for a moment!

Hi Ellu, your birds are gorgeous! If you use something like Ivermectin then have a vet do it as I have heard of birds dying from this treatment. It was never designed for birds.

Do you have any other hens with babies? If you do put them under her. The new hatching probably won't make it if the mother can't feed it as for the first days the mother feeds 'crop milk' to the baby as it cannot yet take seed. The father cannot produce crop milk. So if: 1. mother cannot feed baby crop milk 2. no other feeding mums I'd suggest trying to syringe feed the baby or if you know another breeder with young give the baby to them to put under a hen.

A Recessive Pied I got off Daz was difficult to sex for about 6 months. This bird would head bob, flirt & even tried to mount - at different times - 2 male budgies, which they weren't keen on. It has since become apparent that this bird is indeed female!

That sized cage is appropriate for 2, maybe 3 flighted birds maximum.

I personally think it is appropriate for 1 flighted budgie, 2 if they are outside for most of the day.
