  1. That's Sam's (lovebird) and he loves it, he sleeps in it all the time & if a stranger comes to the house he hides in it. It's actually a cut down postal tube with a 'bird buddy' at the top. He's had it since he was 4 weeks old and hates it when I take it out to wash it.
  2. That's right! Boris was 3 yesterday and I bought her 3 new toys and some Trill Toppers. Hi mum, love the trill topper box, it's very tasty! What? come out and say hello? okies, Hi everyone! *flicks wings*
  3. Winner for the Wet Budgie Contest is Misty! Congrats Melissa, PM me with your mailing details and I'll post off your prize.
  4. or perhaps taking a sedative! They were just making sure you got your fair share of their kill. The beta members always give alpha's their share. I didn't like it when the mice were still alive! Last cat we had knew we wouldn't let her in if she had a "gift" for us. She got smart and would put it on the ground with her paw holding it down. We'd open the door for her (yes boss cat, anything you want boss cat) she'd quickly bend down grab the gift and tear into the lounge room and drop her gift at our feet to the quick shreiks of panic from some family members (especially if the gifts were live cockroaches) . . .
  5. Excellent pics everyone! Going to be hard to pick just 1 winner!
  6. Definately DON"T FEED THE POSSUM!!! You will never get rid of it them! It will poop everywhere outside, if you have fabric on your outdoor furniture it's claws will rip it to shreds and they may cause the birds to panic and kill themselves by flying headfirst into a wall. I lost 6 birds in one night this way. My neighbour used to feed the possums as they bred on her verandah but they ended up causing thousands of dollars damage. The council isn't interested in helping because we are "rural" and "should expect visiting wildlife".
  7. She lives on the front verandah beside Sams cage. Mum & I were at my sisters for my nephews 4th birthday so was away most of the day. Dad got home just before 4pm and Boris' cage was on the ground with the tray partway out. Boris was okay and still happily chatting away in her cage when she could have gotten out and flown away. Sams cage front had been pushed in partway. I reckon there must have been some animal (probably a possum) because the front of their cages are nearly a foot from the edge of the table they live on. We did have a bad storm but the winds have never been that strong. We only got power back on 40 minutes ago. Off for over 5 hours. I will be keeping a close watch on Boris just to make sure she really is okay with her trauma.
  8. Beautiful birds! I especially love the green, he's very handsome.
  9. She is tough Norm but they are never out together if we aren't there to supervise. Sam gets a bit overexcited sometimes, usually they only beak bash but sometimes Sam also feeds her. Boris did get into trouble not long after, Sam was happily chatting away when Boris launched herself at him and took him to the floor and she was biting for real! Poor Sam needed a big cuddle he was so upset! Thanks for the nice comments, my baby Boris turns 3 on June 1st.
  10. A Queen must stay in shape I am Queen Boris, get where you belong heathen! okay Queen Boris
  11. I'm Karen - no human kids - plenty of Feathered Kids though. Only about half are budgies, I'm mainly interested in the Aussie Parrots except for mums lovebird which I'll post in Off Topic soon. I'm a member of around 20 forums now but am trying to cut down. I frequent Parrot forums as it's easier to talk about all birds rather than just budgies!
  12. Soon as she goes away I'll spit it out.
  13. sorry! shouldn't laugh. I am sure one of our helpful mods or admins will give you a sex change soon enough. :hap:
  14. Hello Lou! *waves* Welcome to Budgie Breeders! Congratulations on becoming a Parront. Do you know how old Tommy is? What colour is he? Any pics? I know, I know, very pushy! LOL we love pics.
  15. Budgie hens come into season every 7 weeks so as long as she is happy & healthy just wait until you see the telltale signs . . .
  16. You are a wonderful person for saving her. I despise pet stores that mutilate birds' wings! totally unnecessary. I'm a bit of an agro person in pet stores - I probably would have told the shop person I was going to report them!
  17. Turk is gorgeous!
  18. WOW you got that finished quick! It was only the shell last week when I saw it! You could definately do that as a living I reckon.
  19. This girl of mine is really weird looking.
  20. I am just so glad it wasn't deliberate poisoning like I had suggested. I bet you'll be showing champions again in no time!
  21. I have had babies come back after nicking off. Hopefully he'll hear the other birds and return for you. Sending positive thoughts your way.
  22. 16 & 17 are cobalts. Their markings appear lighter than they actually are. Darcy is a lacewing, albino cannot 'look' lacewing.
  23. That was a great caption! Congratulations.
  24. There was a few years ago a breeder of crested budgies not 10 minutes from my place. I've lost his number & he no longer advertises. I am interested in getting a couple at some stage. Cute little cresties Libby.
  25. I was thinking TCB too Kaz.
