I think you are doing a wonderful thing Maesie. l understand the meaning of restoring items for the sake of memories. When my Grandfather passed away. My family and l went into his garage to help clean it for grandma. l noticed this old horse bridle hanging in a corner, that my great grandfather used on his horses. l asked grandma if it was okay for me to take it and she said it was fine. Even though to some it is junk to them but to me l cherish it.
That is what l'm thinking too.
