  15. That is great.
  16. Out of curiosity, what brand of pellets are you using, that is making their poop smelly? I use fruit blend by zupreme and also l sometimes use the brand Pretty bird. Those brands do not make my birds poop smell.
  17. Thanks for posting this Kaz. Good information.
  18. He is still getting adjusted to his new environment. The runny poop can be caused by stress. I'm sure in a few days his poops will become normal once he is settling in. Do not worry about not seeing him drink water. Budgies only drink a small amount of water. He may be drinking or eating his seeds once you leave the room. If you are worried that he can't find his seeds, you can place a small bowl or plate and fill it with seeds at the bottom of his cage. Blow on the seeds and watch to see if any empty husks fly. If you do see any, means he is eating. I would leave him in his cage and cover his cage on 3 sides. Leave the front uncovered. It will help him feel safe and secured in his cage. At night do you cover his cage? Covering his cage will help him sleep. I would wait at least a week until you start to work with taming him. You can still talk to him constantly and sit close by him. So he can get use to you. Here is a great article on how to tame your budgie Link. It is from the FAQ section.
  19. l agree with the others. You have a beautiful boy.
  20. yes, l did mean spraying
  21. Thanks birdluv, that's so generous of you! Actually we had an extra bell from a toy with mirrors that we are not using yet (so that Bogie will bond with us and not the birdie in the mirror.) So we hooked up the non-copper bell to the playgym and all is well. I'm glad to hear that you have a bell for him Bogie seems to like being in his cage best of all and doesn't always want to come out to play, although today when I went in to clean his cage I offered him the perch to come out instead, and he seemed to like being away from the commotion of cleaning. His favorite thing at the moment seems to be his rings, sometimes when we offer our finger or his stepping perch he jumps on only so we can get him closer to his precious rings. Like we're his personal elevator, lol! lol I've also been trying mostly unsuccessfully to get him to eat healthy fresh stuff. I've tried offering by hand, in another dish on the cage floor, clipped to the bars, etc. Today I swapped out his regular food dish for another one with little bits of hard boiled egg and shredded carrots topped off with some seed. He was not super happy with the change, but eventually went in and tried some (has the orange from the carrots around his beak to prove it). He didn't much like the egg whites, though, those got thrown down just like the pellets he so despises. We try to explain to him that these fresh things, fruits and veg are healthy, but it's hard to reason with a budgie! ;-) It is good that you keep on trying to feed him fresh food daily. Great job!!
