  1. if the cere was pale blue before it was most likely a hen not in breeding condition but now is in breeding condition....A males cere is hardly ever light blue. If the brown goes on to get darker and peel off again it will be female you wont need the iodine if its female

Its pretty unusual ...so good luck...you might need to watch a little more closely in case it goes pear shaped,....but so far so good ?
  3. Nadene has given you some very good advice
  4. Hi Cathy and welcome. I note noone ahs asked the age of your budgies so advice about breeding needs a few more detials such as age and condition. Until that info is forthcoming noone should be advising about breeding them
  5. Boy definitely
  6. Why is everyone guessing after the answer has been given ?? LOL
  7. your blue male in the photo above has scalyface mites on his cere and feet.....he needs urgent treatment with ivermectin....and whilst you are treating him treat them all
  8. feather mites have been known to show that same look to the feathers your bird has, BUT as your bird has white flights it would be extremely easy to see evidence of feather mites if it had them

Hi Brigitta. please dont buy a bunch of budgies from the pet store and believe all they tell you then put them in an aviary with nestboxes.... you need to know your birds are healthy, have settled in well, are of age and not encourage underaged breeding. try and find a breeder via local newspaper or gumtree rather than shop at a pet store. Make sure there are no mice accessing the current aviary.....if the aviary mesh goes to ground level, add some tin at least 2 ft up from the ground all the way around to stop mice going through the mesh, and make sure its not just sitting on soil to allow rodent access.
  10. Beautiful photos
  11. There are a great many facebook budgie pages up and running now and they are very active and I suspect why this forum is now on a go slow.
  12. greywings are meant to have grey feet not pink
  13. pieds do have iris rings. recessive pieds dont
  14. I would remove the mirror...it does their head in...no mirrors or shiny bell toys
  15. do NOT buy a sandpaper covered perch...they are responsible for foot issues like bumblefoot and foot infections
  16. Dont discount entirely the scaly face as the beginning signs are there bad pictures or not The thin line of slight crustiness at the lower edge of the cere added to the slight balding around the eye would be a sign scaly face is creeping in....so treat for it. Spot on ivermectin the treatment thats best
  17. What a delightful surprise.......an opaline greywing dominant pied and a little female too and Please can you post a photo of the back of MUM ?
  18. I agree with Neville
  19. Did you get any dommie pieds out of him ?
  20. Swan Valley Birds in Midland ...........the $2 stores over here dont sell the the cages Dillster is talking about.
  21. BJ Budgie clubs are 99.999999% show budgie clubs and it would be rare to get a hand raised or tame baby budgie through a show budgie breeder. A generic bird club maybe. Best bet is local newspapers and Gumtree ads as already suggested.
  22. wrong and if you tried breeding it one day you would be waiting a very long time for an egg
  23. also because your blue birds look skyblue doesnt mean they are....as they are cinnamon you imagine their colour at least twice the actual strength of colour you are seeing due to cinnamon reducing colour...chances are pretty high they are cinnamon cobalts of which I have a few
  24. May I change to DOM PIED I think he has Iris rings. Its not just about iris rings Robyn, he has common dominant pied markings as well
