  2. Hulled oats, ..............and if he will eat it, porridge oatmeal with added polenta, and water to make a soft easy eating consistency ( not necessary to cook ) ....

Runny bum in conjunction with eye issue can be psittacosis and if so thats serious and contagious............you need to get this bird and any with it to an avian vet ASAP
  6. Welcome back Is your original BBC membership still active ?
  7. Rose is out of condition...her cere is at the stage where the colour is peeling off. So dont try and breed her right now. The other photos are too dark...try again
  8. Neville is right and where did you get the idea that bird was pied ?

    Looks real good Dave
  10. I believe it to be a greywing too. The thing is with greywings, clearwings and dilutes, so many have been misidentified and bred together willy nilly due to not identifying them correctly that I believe there are many "mixes" around now too affecting these identifying features. By "mixes" I dont mean a bird being more than one kind at the one time as we know you cant here, but with another variety in its genetic heritage...parents, grandparents etc. Its muddied the gene pool kind of
  11. Pat is a boy
  12. This is the tail quill colour I was referring to
  13. Hard to tell from that photo about the renamed LULU maybe try for another tomorrow in natural light conditions and a close up of the cere ( Macro setting on camera ) The reason I say about the seed treat sticks is............they call them honey treats or whatever but since the pet food industry is not regulated like people food is...........all it needs is a drop of honey to call it a honey stick and the rest is often animal glues to stick it all together. Not good for the little feathered friends. They are real cuties arent they
  14. Suggest you switch the names around as LULU is definitely a BOY and Charlie is most likely a female but will hold judgement on that till we get a front on photo with no flash used. Both appear to be spangles, and seem to be around 8 wks old no older. I am real sorry flip trainer but to advise weaning off seeds is not good advice and can lead to starvation. I would however avoid the use of "junkfood" in the form of seed treats on sticks...................

    Welcome to our forum Wayne
  16. 9:30 for the booking in of birds up for selection ...................so for those wanting a look..........anytime around lunchtime is probably good.......as you cant look at the birds while they are being judged.
  17. I agree with Robyn......the cocks cere isnt in full breeding condition. Also a female not in breeding condition will have a cere thats both white and blue appearing to be pale blue, so be sure you have put two females together. Normally you need more than a few days BUT based on "cocks" cere colour ( if it is a cock ) then you need a boy with a strong blue cere. Also remove the cage draping.....they dont need PRIVACY at all......this is us as humans putting our feelings and thoughts onto birds and thinking they want privacy when they dont give a toss actually .........and in fact you may be robbing them of the daylight they need to get "randy" A budgie intent on mating will do so whether or not you can see them and whether or not they are visible to all and sundry. Generally mating occurs before we are all out of bed in the morning and at dusk in the evenings as well. I have had two budgies mating on my shoulder in the aviary...that's how little they care for privacy. If there's no aviary noise near them put the radio on by their cage. Its simulates aviary chatter and makes them less fearful of quiet. Quiet is a sign of danger to birds...Will make them apprehensive
  18. Good to hear what a difference trimming has made...well done in working out whats best for him
  19. What you should do is not feel sorry for him and put him back. What you should do is take his cage and put him far far away so he cant hear his partner or call out to each other. Then he can concentrate on eating for himself and not fretting.
  20. Please dont put him back....you have more to worry about with him in the cage than him out of it. Remove him further away so they cant call out to each other as well.
  21. How are they doing ?
  22. Can you tell me how and where to delete the other post, I looked and couldnt find how. If you read again what I wrote you will see it says DELETED.........so its done. You cant delete your own posts but I can
  23. The tail quill is the middle spine of the tail running down the length of it not the tail feather colour itself.
  24. I agree with Robyn. Leave dad out of the cage now and let the mother raise the babies. She should manage all four fine as long as you keep good food available to her including softfood. Anything she can eat and readily feed the babies. PS deleted your other topic as it was a duplicate of this same one. We dont do double posted topics here
  25. No such thing. Its a made up name by that "breeder"who told you that. As far as clarification goes.............she appears to greywing but the tail quill is wrong. Its entirely possible that due to errors of identification her parents may have been possible clearwing and greywing or something like that......I cant be sure. BUT clearwing in her parentage may be why her tail quill is not grey. She may be a mix.
