  3. Omelettes daughters first egg has hatched Omelette's 6th is due today. Just rung her first two chicks.
  4. I agree with this
  5. Oh No !!!!!!!! I am so sorry mate Thats gotta be real tough. Biggest hugs :hb: hope you can figure out what went wrong
  6. The black striations are broken on a Recessive Pied Opaline where as a Normal Recessive Pied has lines of striation going horizontally on most birds
  7. Yes and if not chicks will be split blue.
  8. Blue hen has a longer mask
  9. Lines We were told to look for broken striations horizontally on the budgies mask. There seems to be some broken striations but isnt all that clear. Maybe opaline maybe not.
  10. Where do you see the opaline in the rec. pied? Asking because I want to see it too Recently advised by a budgerigar judge to look at the striations on the face that indicate opaline in recessive pied
  11. Since budgies can do two rounds usually without issues...he should be fine.
  12. I spent part of the afternoon attaching some clear corrugated sheets to the perching end of my aviary to stop the rain and wind driving in there...then put some doubled up shadecloth up the other end to stop some more wind issues. Horrible weather for birds. When water gets into an aviary and droppings get wet and mushy birds can get coccidiosis. At times like these you need coccivet in their water.
  13. I so totally agree with you there
  14. We struck a similar situation when we were getting quotes for our new birdroom ( thye one I have now ). We got quotes as high as $12,000 !!! Went to look at a place that usually does higher priced sheds. When we were looking at a shed we liked and talked to the saleman saying it was almost right but needed to be wider....he suggested we go for the garage model which would give is higher roofline ( 8 ft to plate height anhd 9 ft to gable ) and as we didnt want the rolladoor on the end it was cheaper. We ended up with a kit for the garage that we erected ourselves and it was cheaper and stronger and better than a comparable shed which was only 6 ft tall not wide enough and would be too hot for the birds Pays to check around. And instead of purpose built flights I bought a 2nd hand patio and will enclose it the way I want myself.
  15. Good Idea Kaz. My perferred method of running a cock over 2 hens is pair him up to the first hen and wait until she has laid the 4th egg and then move him to the 2nd hen. There are many ways of doing it. I should have mentioned that I delay the move between cages to do it just as you do Heath.....exactly the same as a matter of fact....then half a day between cages.

It is the chosen code symbol used before the year digit for that year :hap:
  18. **KAZ** replied to Emma's topic in Budgie Pictures
Every state in Australia has a code they put before the year number........ for 2008 it can be X8 diamond 8 dash 8 etc The "zero"with the line appears to be the code for that year with the zero after it so the year would be 2000

    Dont think so Derek........that isnt a 6 you see........its a zero..........gold rings were also year 2000

Yeah the head of the screw is big enough to hold
  21. Showing early signs of scalyface. So treat him first.

Cabinets are 16mm melamine so I make them of a size that allows me to use screws to attach them to the front.
  23. I have a setup with three horizontal cabinets with two sliders between....I can run one cock between three hens if I want. I have only run one cock between two hens previously.
  24. I disagree with the previous advice. Use a breeding cage setup with sliding door between two cabinets. Let him spend half a day with the first hen and half a day with the next hen......back and forth. Sliding door between saves stress from catching and shifting him.

You will most likely have to cut bars and either hang nestboxes by hooks or screw into the wood by little angle brackets.
