  1. No she wont....read my article....here............ http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...0baby%20budgies and you will see its essential that you check babies in the nestbox at least once daily.
  2. I put 8 of the kindie cage babies out in the aviary yesterday morning as they were doing so well and needed space to fly.
  3. Omelette is a grandmother again...2nd grandchild hatched.

You have done a wonderful job in constructing your new birdroom. Do you have the birds already or do you go to buy them once you are finished ? How many birds do you think you will keep ? What do you do to supply the missing vitamins from lack of true sunshine ? How will the temperatures be kept moderate in that room ?

  12. Sweet-Pie has red eyes.........fallow
  13. Good hens are the hardest thing to find, so a surplus of future breeding stock is a bonus by me
  14. Why wait. Since my parents feed their babies in the nest all they eat including vegies, my babies come out of the nestbox looking to eat vegies................right from the beginning is the answer to when to feed vegies. I usually give the babies mashed boiled egg, grated carrot, finesliced dark greens and budgie seed sprinkled through. None of the babies say no and they all get into it.
  15. Timid and quiet ? All budgies look that way if they are still enough for a photo Matt. BUT show types are a lot easier to handle than pet types.
  16. Sure do. Lucky to get 2 cocks to 12-18 females
  17. Not the clearest photos But I say both hens.
  18. Can you use a breeder cage inside the house ?

Welcome Uli. Good to have you here
  22. There are triggers that bring a hen into breeding condition and I really dont think you can define it in terms of how many times a year. A single pet type hen in a cage inside for instance is most likely very different to a breeding hen or a hen in a mixed aviary.
  23. Of six chicks in Omelette's nestbox I was able to sex them today as 5 hens and 1 cock. The chick hatched today was very definitely female. Cere at hatching was a definite white.
