  1. The small spot indicates SPLIT FOR RECESSIVE PIED. You cannot hide a dominant gene like dominant pied......it either is one or it isnt. We have a whole topic on this split recessive spot on this forum.

That's what I meant... My breeding cages.......I converted them to take nestboxes by turning the fronts around. Tied one door with cable tie, left the other to drop down and allow nestbox access This photo show the spare doors with pegs but shortly after this I used cable ties to secure those doors. Some of those cages werent converted at the time this picture was taken.

No......there are cage fronts you can buy witha hinged door section top right or top left that allow3 it to open so you hang your nestbox there. When finished with you just shut the hinged door. I have some here but not yet in use. I will take a picture for you. My normal breeding cages I turned the whole front upside down so I could use the bottom doors then as top doors and thereby was able to access nestbox higher up.....I think thats what SJW means. BUT I was also talking about cage fronts you can buy with a hinged door. Mine cost me $14.95 recently.
  4. If the ceres on both have white as they show in the photos then they are both females. The recessive pied is also opaline.
  5. Rule of thumb........any white on a cere with blue is female. Boys have purply pink ceres.

Come on MIKEY BIGGER PICTURE 640 by 480 is allowed here.
  7. An elderly showbreeder we know got charged $5000 for an aviary he swore he asked for to be twice the size he got delivered. The one delivered was one that regularly sells for around $900. Old and silly, he didnt get paperwork signed off on and he is stuck with it. QUITE frankly you are way better off buying a kit built garden shed of the size you need and modify it. Sheds are way cheaper than aviaries.
  8. Dad doesnt have to be split for blue as he actually is blue series.
  9. Budgies also moult when their food changes. By changing the seed they are used to eating can also force a moult. This is apart from the age they normally moult as well
  10. As I breed for show, I will let them fly in the aviary and see how well they turn out ( or not ) after 7-8 months or so

There are cage fronts available with doors for nestboxes and can be closed as normal when there is no nestbox on the front.
  12. Congratulations on your upcoming new home and birdroom/aviaries. Your birds look gorgeous, and they will love the space when you get it all happening
  13. I am hoping to be able to foster some babies out later on. Her daughters eggs were candled and I threw out 4 I think. First egg due to hatch any day now.

Hi Daz, The way I interpreted this post is that you moved the breeding cabinets with birds in there is this correct? Did the birds have eggs and chicks? If they did when you moved them did they become stressed or stop sitting on the eggs etc? Is it too risky for the chicks and eggs Thanks nitsuD Daz's birds were in the flights in the birdroom and were paired up when the new cabinets were in place I believe.

  20. She may be on doxycycline....usually given for psittacosis. Baytril can be given in with her water. Would be great to know exactly what you are dealing with. Good on you for hanging in there :boogie:
  21. :boogie: your sons's blood is worth bottling
  22. If you add as many as you can as the right sized pictures, then wait for someone to post, then you can add the rest in your reply. Also emoticons do not work in topic titles, so I edited it out.
  23. Photobucket has an edit feature for resizing pictures to our forum size of 640 by 480. You can also upload them to that size to save editing each one. PS Budgies look great :boogie:
  24. Phone them and ask if it was megabacteria as that is serious. It is kind of like ( in people ) having HIV and then turning into fullblown aids. What treatment is the bird on ?
  25. Has she been tested for megabacteria ( it is fungal not bacterial ) and mega is a secondary disease which kicks in AFTER something lese has reduced the resistance.
