  5. I coulda told you that ................ and maybe I did PS sorry about the chicks
  6. Some really nice chickies there Renee....width across the cere and some nice deep masks on your recessives too. Bet you are pleased with them
  7. Budgies being pooped on happens anytime anyway....they fly over others and poop and there you go But being pooped on is not dangerous :D not for budgies anyway
  8. From what I hear, this style of bird is already being bred in Victoria ? PS I am not saying I dont like this bird. Quite frankly ANY BIRD that had this kind of feather and was by some miracle in my aviary..........I would be stoked

  11. Hoping for DF's Dave ? They hatch with plum eyes ( just for a day or two ) so you can tell earlier if you have one in a nest.

  13. I know you are doing colony breeding......you have already said so. yes they learn with experience, but I find more successful when a few months older than yours are.
  14. Have you felt his chest to feel if his keelbone feels sharp ?

The shortened version of Maggie okay with you Dave ??
  16. He would get NOWHERE in a show here.......he would have been DISQUALIFIED for missing a sh*tload of flights off his wings LMAO :D
  17. I suggest you grow your plants in little pots and put them into the cage on occasions and not have it growing down the bottom. Moisture needed to keep it growing can be a cause of disease in budgies and its something you dont want happening. Pots of seeding grass in and out of the cage........easier, less propensity for diseases like coccidiosis. Cage ? Wooden ? Budgies chew wood. What kind did you have in mind ? Sometimes cheaper and easier to buy a good rectangular flight cage.
  18. Yes, they must get embarrased when you're looking (Sorry if offended, but it is quite natural for someone to get embarrased when sharing a.... special moment.... with someone) Budgies and other birds dont care if you are watching or not if they feel like mating. They dont get embarassed. its just that they usually mate early morning before most people are out of bed.......but they mate at any time of day too....when the mood takes them,.....they dont get embarassed and they dont care if you are watching at all. My husband was in his aviary yesterday and two of the tamer princess parrots were mating while on his shoulder.

Great start Exciting huh ? PS check council regulations for distance allowed from fence Rats and mice can run along fence tops and jump onto roof as well. If you can put a vertical sheet of metal up from the back wall into the air it may stop rats getting on the roof.
  21. With time and hanging around here you will learn plenty by the time you get your precious budgie friend
