  1. This isnt a good photo but its a hen chick that Big Blue produced from his first pairing. She is moulting.
  2. A lot of early errors in working out a budgies sex, is made due to the old theory that any blue on a budgies cere means male. That theory is wrong. Any white on a budgies cere including if its with blue means female. does the cere going brown irritate budgies at all? the pictures make the cere look sore. No, but as its a hormonal stage they can get a bit cranky
  3. Vetafarm moulting aid is available at any good bird store.
  4. Mac and Frannie and baby sibling

  7. okay since you havent a clear natural light photo of these guys..................rule of thumb...any white on a budgies cere means female. Now you tell us if you see white, even if its with blue.

When I researched the rabbit and guinea pig pellets my budgies like to eat, I found a great variance re brand names and ingredients. I was also told by a stock feed place that a lot of these similar products ( pellets etc ) are the same and bagged into differing bags.....i.e. sheep and cattle pellets are the same but sold in differing packaging etc. Rabbit/guinea pig pellets vary greatly depending on manufacturer. I found some more local to me but werent a patch on the ones I find my budguies love to eat. I wait to hear what you find also.

  14. A breeder or two over here seems convinced that anything that makes a budgie happy, like playing with branches and leaves or chewing things up, even if it has little benefits, ....is a good thing. The "something to do" theory.
  15. I agree. Libby would want you to be calling her about follow ups on one of her babies.
  16. Hi Lonebudgie
  17. I like your swing
  18. I tried it but my birds wouldnt eat it. How are you serving yours ? and what brand or manufacturer is it of the one you get ?
  19. A very good sized chick Dave. I just tossed out all the other eggs. There were three of Omelette's in there shye laid o0ff the perch ...they were addled. One fertile egg left in the nest. By the time it hatches, if it does I will have to transfer it to another nest due to massive size difference between chicks.
  20. Thats really good news Mate

  22. No problem feeding Hay, any seeding grass is fine. I have fed Hay for years, don't know about the nutrients in it that would depend what grass was used and where it was grown, the soil etc. but my birds love it and it gives some variety, lets face it I would hate to live on just chicken. Clearwing What kind of hay is a good thing for budgies ? How fresh must it be ? I was at my stock feed supplier the other day.....a customer was agonising over a choice of fish food for her fish. The container said for tropical fish and she was trying to decide if it was suitable for her goldfish. I said..if I can feed my budgies rabbit and guinea pig pellets, and whey protein powder designed for horses, then her fish would welcome any fish food despite what the specification was on the lable. She then told me her husband was out there feeding them crushed rice crackers the night before as they had run out of fish food and her husband was impressed with himself that he had chosen the rice crackers with seaweed, I guess the key is............variety of all kinds of good things
