  1. Yes Because she is keen on him and he is succeeding in making her little heart flutter Sometimes these pairings are more successful
  2. They are a very nice breed of dog, and the new fella is as cute as...temperament wise
  3. I'd let her go for the RING IN myself
  4. Thanks for the new photos...........really good to see
  5. I would think it might do if the wire was that thin guage stuff that hardware stores sell but I chose a tougher thicker quality wire, and other breeders who have used this longer term have had no issues. The flame is pased quickly around not building up too much heat in one spot at one time.
  6. You have no idea how many results are possible without knowing the full parentage. The hen split for blue raises the question is she a Type I or Type II Dark Green/Blue. Do you know her parents? The cock, same question is he Type I or Type II Dark Green/Blue. We know the father is Violet but what was the mother? The Blue and Dark Factors are linked and this change the results. I did a quick calculation based on this pairing - Dominant Pied Opaline Dark Green/Blue Type II cock x Dark Green/Blue Type I hen. I am only guess on the Blue Type I and II based on the info supplied and what breeders generally have in their aviaries. There are 40 possiblities. If I then factor in the Violet and/or the possible split Ino and Cinnamon the possibilities rise again. Mother was opaline dark green dom pied.
  7. Wouldn't this be breaking quaratine... I'd never want to expose my healthy birds to anything a pet shop may have hanging around them and their birds. I would have no intentions of taking my birds further than near their front door and counter and certainly not down and next to any petshop birds. I think that would be safer.
  8. Looks that way Macka. My husband is very keen on the dogs. He sent Maggie off to get mated recently but the timing was off and it didnt work out. Stud fees being around $950 these days and a male cav for $700...........Ken decided to get a male cavalier so when Maggie is on heat next and if the young fella is old enough ....... Hmmm
  9. well apart from the fact i had one just like him his lines are actually blue not grey would i be right hes not grey wing hes opaline cobalt you can also tell hes double dom from where the cut off to his head strips are theirs the faintest tiniest few lines past the cheek stripping not sure if you can see it but i can not very good pics so cant be positive but bet you get opaline hens i also say he would be split rec pied but thats just as one eyes normal one ringed the golden face sky blue hen does she have all mint green markings or does she have blue (sky)visible on rump I think GB is right too
  10. I have to agree. This hen need TLC bigtime. Be careful with her.
  11. well if he looks olive and has deep purple patches hes most probbly a violet dark green but send picture i will tell you my opinion Nestmates ( siblings ) were violets.
  12. Beak long ? Yes...I thought so too...why ? maybe had some scalyface or might have another issue. She looks like she needs building up a bit.
  13. I will send you a pik of the dom pied cock...............to me he looks olive not dark green but I could be wrong Cheek patches are purple.
  14. When I have had nests with chicks with issues I put triple C in the parents water supply and it seems to right itself.
  15. Good points GB I think we can comfortably call ourselves BBC Budgie support group. Sounds more helpful than scary to petshops owners. If we can help the petshop owner recognise what they are buying in then they are less likely to have sick or crappy birds up for sale. Helping them by sexing and seperating their birds will make them look forward to our visits even if we do crticise whilst there. Its all for the birds benefit anyway. Some effort on our part is better than seeing things that make us cringe and saying nothing in case we cop an earful of abuse for trying. PS even taking some healthy birds of our own to show them what to look for in their purchases from incoming birds may be of benefit.
  16. What would you get pairing a dark green normal hen split blue to a dark green opaline dom pied cock who is from a violet dad ( who is also splt ino and split cinnamon )
  17. Excellent you'd have to be happy with them PS I wouldnt be using that perch they are on though ........
  18. My aviary is huge.........they wont get in the way................ and picking them off the wire, one by one, in a huge aviary is totally out of the question
  19. and then there were THREE Meet Harley and the girls.
  20. Good thing you have one already....great for weeds as they are sold for that purpose...BUT now you have told me about the spider thing....I have more reasons to get one
  21. Yeah The vacuum can wrap the feather around the wire worse than it is, so I am sure I will go the gas torch from now on...........It was suggested to me by at least 2-3 others and now I know the right torch head to get I will be racing off to get one. I have feathers everywhere in my aviary I was told after I did my aviary that there was a better wire that made less feathers stick. Pity I didnt know that first
  22. You can link to the standards elsewhere...... HERE http://www.anbc.iinet.net.au/c&s_the_standard.htm
  23. Yes to top two photos ..........bottom one too FUZZY
  24. That is not a clear photo....................... so i dont know what you can see colourwise, but that is what I would expect to see if the chick was a spangle......two middle clear pins no matter what the colour seems to be ...the tail is a spangle chicks tail
  25. No.........gone in a puff of smoke. Very quick solution
