Baby #2 is here!!! It started hatching before i went to school at 7:45am this morning...Then i came home and hes fully out of sheel crying away. I made up some mix and took him out to feed him. All was well..except!!! He was opening his beak!!! :( How can i mkae him open it? Then as soon as i put him in the nest he yawned a HUGE yawn... Then snapped a peice of shavings by accident in his lil mouth. But wouldnt open it for the mix... It was kinda getting cold so i heated it up a bit...but hes was starting to get cold so i put him back under Belle for a buit to keep warm. PLEASE HELP GUYS!!! HOW CAN I MAKE HIM WANT TO BE FED!!! He is probably 3 hours old..or maybe 2 and a half hours old not really sure...Belle isnt feeding him, nor is Kirby but they are keeping him warm...and the bread soaked in milk sprinkled with suger isnt too apatizing as neither Kirby nor Belle have ate any Kirby

Thanks guys Daz...il try that bread soaked in milk with suger on it. Does it reallt work? I felt like i was god, choosing who dies and who doesnt. He was seriously injured (VERY BRUSED, his whole wing and body were black )...but he was eating! I felt soo happy...then all of a sudden my mom was like "oh no! Wheres his heartbeat ". Baby 2 shoul be here tomrow, but i have a felling it will hatch early morning tonight like the other did as its HUGE (i candled him to make sure hes okay)... Im at school from 7:45am-4:30pm mon-friday...Since this baby will be born on friday during school.. wish it was other way around as in i wish he was bron on friday night so i could have the weekend to feed him every coiuple hours. Would feedig him at 7am, 4:30pm, 7pm, and 11pm be enough to at least get him crying enogh for Belle to feed him/her? Its a 9hour gap from 7:45pm-4:30pm... Hey guys... So i went out and got good hand feedin mix... made it up accordingly...got baby from the nest and started eating the mix. My mom and i were THRILLED!!!!! Until he start choking it seemed...i was 'forcing' to much on him He then cleared his throat and kept eating well! Until...his heart stopped :( Ive made a little kleenex coffin for him, and made a cross on the lil package with wings on it I feel SOO BADLY!!! I killed him, and he never did anything wrong Belle is looking ocnfused why the lil pink thing that chirped under her is gone, but Kirby has figured it out and is calling to him Egg 2 should be here tomrrow i think, no wait friday...Ariel started laying on her eggs again, so when see the 2nd egg starting to hatch should i move it in with Ariel? She got surprised last time, but do you think shell accept the baby if it hatches with her watching it? PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!! Or should i keep it with Belle..then just hand feed it sooner instead of waiting 12 hours before his 1st meal? Belle sat on him VERY well...never leaving him for more than 5 minutes... I think i might keep her with him, but just help start him off by handfeeding him until Belle gets the idea. Me rambling on: I FEEL SOOOOOOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KILLED A PERFECT BABY!!! Why me, why Belle, WHY THIS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like i gave up on him, no not gave up, i feel like i put him in a death or death situation! What was i thinking putting in with a hormonal female? WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING TO PUT TO MUCH FOOD IN THE SHRINGE!!!!! WHY DIDNT I BUY HANDFEEDING FORMULA SOONER!!! He could have still been alive right now if i stayed in school becuase i wouldnt have added him to Ariels nest, and i would have gotten the food faster as my mom didnt want me out becuase i was 'sick ! ! ! ! I let him down, Belle down, Kirby down, my mom down whos now crying becuase she was also the one to see our last dog have its last heart beat like this baby, and i let myself down for being so foolish!!! Hey there! Sadly, baby 1 is dying and is non-responsive since Ariel attacked her when i tried to fostor baby into her nest and since her real mom Belle isnt feeding them So, im off tonight to go get handfeeding mix, and could you guys please give me YOUR tips (for those who have done it before like Cindy e.t.c.) as well as good BUDGIE handfeeding websites. I only seem to find good sites on how to handfeed tiels or conures Thanks guys, i truely appreciate it! ps- Would it work out if the next baby hatches...i feed him at 7am in the morning before school, then right when i get back from school around 4:30pm, the once before bed at about 11pm? See this is the deal. Belle (the babies mom) sits on them GREAT!!!!(the eggs as only 1 hatched so far but is dying) but she doesnt think she has to feed them..which is EXACTLY what i thought would happen. Kirby (her hubby, the babies daddy) doesnt feed them either, but feeds Belle A LOT!!! So, do you think if i start feeding a baby hand rearing stuff a few times a day, Belle will pick up on it when they cry and get bigger? Thanks! Sadly...his lil wing is swollen, purple, and scabby I dont think hes going to make it. And now im VERY worried if they arent feeding him, what they will do with the other 7 babies. Im wodnering though...what if i give Ariel an egg before it hatches? That way she can watch him watch, and wont be worried when i dump a baby in it? I think as soon as i see it starting to hatch, ill put it in her nest then sehe can see it growing, and help it out so shes not startled. What do you guys think? Im scared htough, whos knows whats going to happen to the 7 other babies, not to mention our new lil baby whos not that well Kirby

Not being fed yet ( ) but better thanb leeding to death. His wing is still messed up but his clicking sound stopped...and no more bleeding anywhere!!! Kirby was in the nest preening him an dBelle...so hopefully they will learn to feed them to soon ehough...IM PRAYING! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Thanks Lovey... But ive got some bad new Since the baby wasnt being fed, i put him in the concave with Ariel. All was good until i heart a racket in her box I IMEDIATELY opened up the box and baby wasnt in the concave anymore But flung on the back wall. I shooed Ariel out of the box, and i got baby. His wing is broken (bent and not stretched out like h is other wing is) and bleeding, then hes got s tear in his wee stomach With the help of Cheeta she suggested putting flour on the cuts, so i did. The bleeding stopped...but baby isnt moving thatmuch Belles accepting him again, but still not feeding. His bleeding stopped everywhere (wing and chest) but whenever he breathes air escaes the tear on his stomach and a clickign sound is created!!! I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BADLY!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I KILLED HIM Oh no guys, im sorry to announce but i dougbt *** live anouther hour. I want him to be with his family his last few minutes,being kept warm, and feeling loved.. * baby, may you continue to chirp in heaven* Kirby

HAHAAHHA you guys know me to well! Guess what! Im 'sick' today I went to school then called home cuz i do feel a bit sick, but its managable... excuses excuses eh? (Laughing out loud) Im scared.... I came home and looked in the box, and the baby doesnt look fed. I setup Ariel with a better nest box (same as BElles) in case i have to foster the baby out to them..as i might have to do. I know im not suppose to touch the baby for a couple days but i feel this is an emergancy. The baby chirps, but isnt as lively as i remember the others being. He flaps his lil wings, and crawls...i duno, maybe its just me? Kirby went in the box with Belle, and i saw him feeding something while the baby chirped...then i peered in and he was feeding Belle and preening her Not baby...Here are pics...does he look fed a bit or no? YAY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHHHAH YES IM SOOO EXCITED!!!!!! Who wouldnt be excited when you wakeup to a lil chirpy noise thinking it was your alarm clock..the n having to still go back to bed eventhough your wide awake wanting to see the wee lil one I got up (after nosebleed at 6:30 ) and peered in the box...AND A LL BABY IS FLAPPING HIS WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like i remember when i bred before! Tini wings, MINISCULE head, black eyes, and his down feathers are already dried! Hes got A LOT of them to! No food yet, but i bet he only hatched 1-2 hours ago... as at 10:10pm lastnight you could barely make out his tini crack on the shell! Im off to school in about 1 hour and 10 minutes...i hope i see her feeding them (as in i hope theres food in his crop) by the time i leave so im not worried shes not feeding him all day Kirbys been at the food dish all morning and he usually isnt so.... Hey guys!!! Shawna....im SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I candled the wrong egg (i thought i was candling egg 7, but it was egg 1) and when i put it up to the light...i saw a BABY HEAD, LEGS, AND BODY!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was moving, and i saw his body so well! It was adorable! So far 7 out of 8 are fertile...and will candle the 8th, or i may not, as.... THERE WILL BE A BABY TOMRROW ! ! ! ! !So i wont want to interupt Belle just to check an egg Im soo excited! Daz- No i dont have any mix, but i looked and my local pet store only had canary and tiel mix in HUGE bags that were $49.99 EACH BAG!!! So i want to go to another store to get a smaller bag of budgie mix... But if Belle doesnt care for it (im 100% sure she will), Ariel is still on her eggs *i think, as i saw her out of the box for about 10 minutes today when i saw feeding them, and normally shes only out for 5 or so...* WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED!!!!! She didnt even care i was there and just looked at me, then moved the egg under her chest So, i to have 8 eggs, all fertile so far (ive candled 6, and all fertile)... Im going to give Ariel the oldest 3 eggs on Tuesday i think because 8 is a lot of wiggling babies for a first time mum... as the oldest egg should be born on the 20th... like Daz's eggs from his hen Jazz! Yay im soooo excited!!! Babies in 4 days!!! Kirby

Thanks Daz! Nope... shes VERY fine with them now. Lets me touch eggs to candle and mark, clean dirty shavings, and inspect daily with no problems... Kirby doesnt either! Thansk you guys! My 1st hen who bred (Chicos mom named Angel) had 8 babies both clutches... all survived, all healthy... Belles being VERY GOOD (on eggs 24/7, being fed by Kirby every 10 minutes, keeping nest poop free...) im just worried she may be overwhelmed at first...Ariels on eggs all night, so i think maybe she just lost interest for a bit. I may still give her the oldest egg near its hatching date (ill give one at a time i think...incase she doesnt sit then i wont lose a lot of babies, but when she sees a baby i know shell be good to it). Kirbys very calming to Belle, and when freaked out he comforts her GREATLY... I can even see him being the 1st to feed baby 1 to show Belle who will be like "WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MY EGGS!!!"... YAY guys!!! My Belle has 7 eggs... so far 5 are fertile... other 2 are to young to candle but i have a feeling they will be fertile... Isnt 7 to many for new mom? My other pair i was going to swap some babies to might be giving up on their eggs as they are 30+ days old now...but well see as shes still on them now. Best of luck guys!!! And i hope it hatched Daz... and Nerwen we both have same amount of eggs, but 1 of yours is from Daz...still though, our situations are even more similar Kirby :ausb:

Hey guys! UPDATE: So i thought Belle was Finished.... Until i went into box after school and she laid a 7th egg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So i now have 7 eggs... so far 5 are fertile... :ausb: My other worry is i went in yesterday and noticed Ariel (my other hen on clear eggs that has had them for over 30 days) not sitting on her eggs I was keeping her setup with her hubby Chico in case Belle being a new mom has this many eggs abandones them or some... so i could switch some to Ariel. Ariel was out of the nest, and the eggs were all VERY cold... But then shes now been on them all again and they are boiling... So im not sure if shes about to leave them for good.... or what. What should i do? 7 babies is A LOT for new mum and new dad to take care of... so i wanted to give Ariel 3 and let Belle have 4... but im not sure what will happen if/when Belle lays another, or Ariel leaves eggs...
