  1. So lovely Nerwen!!! Can't wait to see more pictures of her.
  2. :ausb: Oh man. I really thought I had one. I was so convinced when I saw her thinking that the white inside the feather meant spangle. I didn't realize it had to be a pencil line. Oh well, she still darling and I'm sure she'll make beautiful babies with either Tazzy or Romeo someday!!!! I think it is time to convert my spare bedroom into the bird room!!!!
  3. Looks like you got some interesting babies out of that pair. The all yellow one must be your DF Spangle?? Lovely!!!
  4. Well, please please please tell me this little wonderful beautiful girl that I just brought home is a spangle. This makes an even dozen for me and I'm not going to buy any more!!!! Her markings were obviously different from the others. I had her clipped - her flight feathers really showed the tracing better than the wing feathers. I think she is also a mish mash of other things like pied (not sure if dominant or recessive ) and probably opaline. But would love to hear from you experts. I'm hoping that if she is a spangle that I will be able to mate her with one of my yellowface males to produce my yellowface spangle. (Don't worry - not any time soon). Oh yeah, name suggestions would be appreciated too.

  9. Awesome! Hopefully she'll settle soon and get her eggies back with her. Cool story.
  10. Gorgeous!!! Do you have any pics of Heidi and Toby side by side. They are so pretty!!!

Yup. Max and Jewel. My hubby calls me the crazy bird lady. He looked at me like I had 10 heads when I started dragging the branch up toward the house. The playgym is housed in the dining room which has basically become the bird room. I've moved all the cages in there now. It is a smaller room so the birds - when out and about - will be safer. PS - We never eat in there- use the kitchen instead.
  13. Awwe! Look at them. They are going to be gorgeous I'm sure! Keep the pics coming!!!
  14. What is the name of the budgie below Lucy and Sam. He is stunning!!! What is his mutation??? I'm also curious about the auto feeder. Can you post a picture?

Well I've seen lots of play gyms on here. I've checked out local petshops and no one seems to have any. So I decided to make my own. My hubby was pruning trees the other days and I got this awesome branch to start with. So instead of packing for my trip to Montreal tomorrow, I spent my morning building this. And there are still lots of toys in the cages :fear . Max and Jewel get to try it out first.
  16. Both are interesting websites. Would love to hear from those with ino's to see if they have had the same problems.
  17. Well there is no injury or illness that I am aware of. I know that budgies mask illness but I watch them pretty closely. And they have tons of flight space. The entire top of their cage (60 inches long) is open for flight and they use it. I'm pretty sure it isn't overcrowded. I also just bought an outside birdfeeder that holds 5 pounds of food and has perches on both sides giving them all space to eat. I got rid of all the "cup" feeders. I rearrange the toys all the time. I think I'm doing everything that I can possibly do to make the situation the best it can be for them. I hope that it is a hormone thing and in the fall I can successfully reintroduce her.

My poor Puddin' is moulting right now and has LOTS of pin feathers. She looks pretty rough.
  20. I LOVE that second picture. So cute!!!!
  21. Hope you can get some video - I love to hear budgies talking. I think Sylvester would have been a talker if he were an only budgie - he shows signs from time to time.
  22. As most of you know I recently moved Jewel, my Creamino budgie, out of the cage with the 9 other birds. For some reason she was being plucked. I'm just curious about the whys. I know she was a food dish hog when she was in there - plunking herself right in dishes. But I recently read a post about UV light and the more colourful birds being more attractive (at least I think that is what it was about). Just wondering if that may have had anything to do with it - her lack of pigmentation making her a "reject" in the bunch??? Just thinking out loud basically and wondering if anyone knows for sure?
  23. Welcome Rob and Tweeter!!! Gotta love those opalines. I have 4 myself. He's a cute little guy! Enjoy your time here.

Kirby, I put Jewel in with Romeo because she was being picked on by one of the other birds. Not sure who but my guess was your darling Tweety. She is quite cranky at times. I was really worried about Jewel. I didn't have my third spare cage at the time so I put her in with little Max. He was so lonely and pathetic acting. He wasn't finished his quarantine at the time but I thought the risk for her in the big cage outweighed the risk for her with him- he was appearing absolutely healthy and I think I had had him at least 2 weeks when she went in. They are great company for one another. I hope to put them both back in the big cage once this hormonal period wears off. And see what happens. I do think they would make lovely babies someday . Hi Lovey, Yes and Yes. I think I'll be keeping them together and separate from the others until the fall. They are happy together - no one is getting plucked. I feel sorry for them in the smaller cage but will get them lots of "out" time. You must be excited now - just a few more days until Pretty and Merlin are together.
  25. I love the last shot of mom and dad .
