The Egg Layer
My poor Jewel is determined to lay eggs no matter what. She laid two clutches for me. When I came home from the hospital, she had started her third. I tossed those eggs. I thought when she moved to mom's she would stop laying but despite being in a cage with 12 other birds and no box she is laying again. They just drop to the bottom of the cage. I've been considering bringing Sylvester (her love) back to my place. How will they react to that? I hope they'll both be okay being separated. I can't think of another way to get her to stop than to separate them. She has probably laid 20-25 eggs in total since January.

Visiting My Babies
Yes... Sylvester. He puffed his head up and talked to me. If I ever bring any home he will definately be one of them. I think that is why it was so hard, because I knew that he recognized me. :glare:.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Lucas had a pretty good week. And we are counting down the final radiaition treatments. Only 6 to go. He has some tissue granulation around his tube. We'll have to keep an eye on it as it can grow. I guess it is treated with a wart removal type of treatment so I hope that it doesn't get too big and bothersome. He got to visit his school this week. It is the first time he has seen the kids in almost two months. He was actually quite reserved at first but I can understand as he was basically swarmed by all of the kids. It didn't take long though for him to settle back in. The teacher let the kids run amuck for our visit. Here is a picture of him holding one of the butterflies (or moths?) they raised in the classroom.

Visiting My Babies
I visited my babies recently and this time I remembered my camera. I thought I'd share some pics with ya. There getting a wee bit chubby at my mom's because they don't get out as much as they did at my place. I cried the first time I saw them after the move. I miss them ALL so much. Sylvester and Jewel are still very much in love. But no nesting box = no babies. Max and Tweety are also still in love. Daffy looks fantastic - I wonder if someone had been picking on her when she was at my place. All of her feathers are growing back. Finnegan is also looking great. His cyst went away before he left my place and it has never come back. Tazzy, my pretty boy. Bella still looks great - although the spangle tracing on her flights isn't very noticeable anymore. My handsome boy Kito. Four of Sylvester and Jewel's babies - all hens - my sister has adopted. Precious on the left. She has two twins - one here, and one with my other sister. They all look the same. This one my sister had to hand feed. Hope you enjoyed.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
We had an up and down week this past week. Some days were pretty good. One day Lucas even ate supper which was a thrill. He has 11 radiation appointments to go and then we get our 4 week break. We are all looking forward to that. Lucas has been missing the kids he goes to school with. We live in a rural place with only one child close by. Today his cousin Zach came for a visit and he was THRILLED. They had fun playing Xbox, flying the Dragonfly, and playing their gameboys. Lucas was content to play with or beside him. It didn't matter as long as he was here. Here is a picture of the two of them with their gameboys. His hair is all gone except for some fuzz. I think he looks cute.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Hi Karen, Thanks. Lucas knows that he will have an opportunity for a wish after his treatment is finished. The staff in the brain tumour clinic informed us that early on. They showed us the "wall of fame" of all the brain tumour patients and many of the pics are of the kics on their wish trips or with their wish items. I have no idea what Lucas will want but I'm hoping that it will be a trip as I think we'll all really need a good vacation and some fun after the year we will have had. What did your niece choose as her wish? My niece was mad keen on the TV show the PONY CLUB. She flew interstate, got to meet the cast of THE PONY CLUB and go out to lunch with them at a nice restaurant and was collected in a limousine, got lots of lovely gifts and much more. The whole thing was video-ed for her to keep also. How wonderful for her! And nice that she has a keepsake of the special day. Thanks for sharing that. Welcome to the forums. It really is a fantastic place to learn about and talk budgies. I learned everything I know here. Thanks for your kind words and prayers. We appreciate each and every one of them.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Lucas' presentation on the telethon went quite well. He was so tired though. We had to get up at 6:30 AM. Here are a few pictures for you.... Lucas with the cheque from his school. Lucas talking to Maria Panopalis, the host of our local Breakfast Television show about what his school did to raise money for the telethon.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Today was a much better day. He actually ate a little and his spirits were a bit cheerier. He actually got a chuckle out of the chunks of hair coming out. Here are a few more pics for you. Lucas being a brave boy while getting his port accessed for bloodwork and chemo. And here are the first signs of hair loss.

A Disaster In The Making
Karen, with everything going on in my life I haven't spent much time reading the posts. So sorry for all of your losses. Two of Star and Wylie's babies died shortly after Lucas got sick. I had rehomed them to my sis. Even with all going on with Lucas it still broke my heart. You can't help but love the little things. To lose so many at one time must have been very painful.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Lucas started losing his hair today. I knew it was coming, yet is very hard to accept when it actually starts happening. My husband is going to shave his head as long as Lucas has no hair. Although Lucas knew it was coming, I think he is a little sad about it too. The last few days have been rough on him emotionally. Lots of anger, tears, etc. It breaks my heart.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Your asthma sounds pretty bad Phoebe. Lucas has asthma too but right now you'd never know it - thank goodness. His is always bad in the winter when he gets colds or when he is around dogs. Take care of yourself and make sure you take those puffers when you need them. Thanks for considering donating to the IWK. It is an amazing hospital and serves the maritime provinces of NB, NS, and PEI. We always donate monthly and this year I will be directing my donations to the brain tumour clinic and the oncology department. Here is a link to the foundation - http://www.iwkfoundation.org/index.cfm?obj...10ECB7312264623 Lucas has a g-tube that is convertible to a j-tube if necessary. He is scheduled for surgery on July 24 to have the tube replaced with a button. He will be much happier then because he really dislikes the tube. Can't say I blame him. The radiation techs say that he is really good about his tube compared to some kids. Aly, thanks. I think that donations to children's hospitals are the best charitable donations anyone can make. Our children are our future. I've seen so many sick kids over the last few months and it breaks my heart. These facilities are focussed on health but also on all the needs of children. They don't forget about important aspects like play. Our donations help them buy important equipment, but also help with things like playrooms, toys, etc. I encourage everyone to consider donating to their local children's hospitals when they decide on their annual charitable donations. Thanks again!!!! xoxox Thanks to everyone else for your continued kind words, thoughs and prayers.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Phoebe, I hope you are feeling better now. We started Phase II of Lucas' radiation treatments today. They are no longer treating the whole head and spine. Now they are treating the back of the head and the tumour bed. It was a long appointment but he was so good. It wasn't until the last picture that he started getting restless. We had a brief discussion with his radiation oncologist after and he is very pleased with how Lucas' treatments are going. I'm really optimistic now that this treatment protocol will be successful. We have had to start feeding him through the tube as he is losing weight. His appetite is very minimal right now. He doesn't seem to mind the tube feeds now that things have healed. This weekend is our IWK telethon. Every year the hospital raises millions of dollars this way. Lucas will be making a presentation of a check from his school on the air on Sunday morning. He seems pretty excited about doing it. It means an extra trip in this week but we want to do it in support of this hospital. He was born there as a 28 week preemie, was treated for Kawasaki Disease there, and now is being treated for his cancer there. We owe them so much!!!! I'll try to get some pics of him doing the presentation and post them. Have a great week everyone.

Chippy!
I always knew when my males were keen on a female when they'd start bouncin' and the iris rings would get bigger. (Laughing out loud). Great pics.
