The New Budgie
Females are actually quieter not Males they need to sing, chatter away and flirt a lot so if this is a hen that you struck gold (maybe) because some hens are chatty too. It is too early to say if the bird is going to be quiet they are always quiet in the beginning within a month you will know.

Any One Breed Clearwings
When you post them make sure you also add them to our Mutation Page for Members - you can find that in the FAQ or PINNED in Mutation where it say's Member's Birds I believe and then you can post your clearwings under the clearwing post so they are simply and easy to find for those who want to see different types of clearwings. Look forward to your pictures

Getting Storm Tamed
I would have Day 1 and Day 2 to simply settle down and watch how she is adjusting then I would work with talking to her for the first week with no hand. If you find that she is very receptive and comes up the cage and wants to talk to you and be by you then you could introduce the hand in the cage with millet but sticking your hand the first couple days may be too quick as JB mentioned.

Hello From Glen
Welcome The misconception is if the cere is blue it is a boy but that is not true. Females go through a period called "non breeding" condition where the cere may turn a light blue with white nostrils like your hen. Males do have blue ceres in certain mutations and it is a dark and bright blue. Your hen's cere will turn a light brown, darker brown and even crusty like when she is in "breeding" condition. This does not mean you have to breed her it just indicates that she is at that point. In our FAQ located at the top you will find a lot of information including information about mutation, different cere's on both males and females, nutrition and health and more so make sure you take a good look around and read in there. . It is always been updated. Again, welcome and Angel is beautiful, you can also enter her for the Budgie of the Month Competition which is located in the Competition Forum.

How Long?
Good answer Kaz, that is 2 weeks longer then we recommend, Avian specialists like vets and such will say 3 months for quarantine.

Do You Breed French Moult?
there is an extenstive debate about this on the forum that was started last year about if people would or wouldn't, I believe feathers either started the topic OR was greatly invovled on it, you can do a forum search or I will look later or if someone has the time to search, I have to get my kids up and read ffor school now .

Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
My girlfirend, had a budgie like this and she took it ot the avian vet to show her how and then after that she did it with a friend, one hold the bird in a towel and one files. Filing is more natural and you won't cut too deep PLUS if you cut you would have a square sharp edged beak. Let us know how it goes.

Question / Does A Cock Have To Be Split Pie To Achive Pied Birds With
i have two cock birds cock 1 ; is a sky blue normal split opaline cock 2 ; is a mauve grey opaline cock (the sky blues son ) the mother of this opaline mauve was identical to him also mauve opaline k , i put the father with a sky blue cinnimon rec pie hen out come was 4 pieds and one opaline no cinomon .... so i can rule out /cin so to get that rezult the skyblue normal /opaline would also need to be split rec pie thats what im told is this true .. YES both parent have to carry the gene so the hen would be split also if this is true is it posable that the opaline cock (his son from a diffrent partner not the pie ) is also split rec pie ? It is possible but not 100% it depends what the hen was cause when he was placed with a cinnimon opaline colbolt clear flight pie the out come was five pied chicks - that is because clearflight is dominant and not recessive and would explain why you would have these chicks. all clear flight exept one who also seems to be lighter markings exept still not cin he is rec pie all chick have iris rings but he still is showing all signs of being a rec pie If all chicks have an iris ring even if they look recessive pied they are dominant pieds, recessive pieds do not display their iris rings at all. all i want to know is could he of recived a rececive pie gene off his dad who is only / himself if the mother was but only opaline If is a recessive pied yes the mother would have to be split to recessive pied (but not displaying it) to display recessive pied cock or hen have to carry to recessive pied genes they don't work like sex-link genes So the question is if the hen is an opaline and the dad is a recessive pied can they produce recessive pied chicks and the answer is YES - this would mean that the hen is split for recessive pied. Let me know if that answers your questions. .

Wing And Tail Feathers Moult
Do you have a regular vet by you at least? Without a definite yes quill mites or FM then we can't really give you a treatment for something that is up in the air for a diagnosis, especailly since we are not trained professionals. I think the best thing you can do is to get him to a vet if not avian then a regular that sees birds. Keep us updated.

Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
they look wonderful...your spangles are gorgeous . I would first go to the avian vet to show you how because the beak is very sensitive part of the body and can bleed out, I believe from my readings that you would file the beak instead of clipping this is safer and more natural and won't leave sharp edges.
