  5. I searched the site and didn't see any articles or posts that go into detail so I did a search Neat here is an article to read http://www.avianbiotech.com/Diseases/PBFD.htm it is an excellent article. You have 2 options from how I see it if I was in your position. 1. Find a home that can provide an only bird home for the 2 birds 2. Keep them completely quarantined from your other birds for life and always wash your hands throughly with hot water and anti-bacterial soap before and after you are in contact with them. You did a good thing but wanting to give them a good home and I know you will make a good decision based on the facts and your personal situation.
  6. your vet can diagnosis this disease through testing
  7. I would say either Dilute or Greywing (not full body of course) That would be my guess. She doesn't look like a very big bird she looks like a poof on her head. She is a very pretty girl. I remember Rainbow did a write up about the difference between dilute/greywing but honestly (Laughing out loud) it still confused me. If true 50% is greywing wash outed and 80% is dilute what do you think?
  8. Beautiful babies and I agree with Nerwen it is all relative when it comes to nature (is that what they say (Laughing out loud) ) we have the % but get this Tim and I both have brown eyes our kids both have blue that is a 25% chance (Laughing out loud) so again....only God knows
  9. Diluted is 80% of the body color is washed out Greywing is 50% of the body color is washed out Whitewing - Clearwing - which she is not because you can see the grey markings on her wings. Saying that I am horrible about telling the difference between the 2 she looks more like 50% washed out but I could be totally wrong. Dilute is recessive so if course if you wanted more dilutes you would need a cock split to dilute or a dilute. Greywing is co-dominant with clearwing so homozygous greywing and a homozygous clearwing would give you a full body greywing. I am not a show person so I don't know what you would need to strengthen the qualities but that is the genetics side of it.
  10. hope there is some fun going on in the cages soon
  11. I agree, love the new siggy Paul that babies are SOOO cute
  12. Pretty was clipped when I got him so he figured out fast what to do as he started fly. Merlin was worse even with clipped wings but finally got the point. Here is a read about to clip or not to clip (I just had the vet reclip Merlin when we where there for his check up so I could work on taming and not chasing) http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...d=90&artlang=en

Did you look in the yellow pages for a smaller chain or an all avian pet shop? We have 1 all avian pet shop that sells English "show" type budgies is that what you are looking for? Also looking in the newspaper you can start there too. I agree it is pretty difficult here in the states to start out but it depends are you looking to breed pet type or show type? You can click here on the Breeding FAQ section and read some good article here too. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...tion=show&cat=7
