Cod Liver Oil
interesting topic, oil isn't protein it is fattening but I would thinkg if you are using it for breeding birds or those in the aviary is it used for energy purposes. Let's see what the others say. :ausb:

Eyes
I understand not wanting to go back since my dog Brandy passed away at the vets I really haven't wanted to go back there at all and haven't yet but I will need to here soon. Anyways, birds can hid illness and it could be a simple mite/lice issue and what you are doing my resolve the problem. If it doesn't please take him to the avian vet (in fact I think you should know but that is me) because birds DO hid their illness very well I know from personal experience. We can give you all the advice in the world but we are not trained professionals. Good luck.

Is French Moult Contagous?
If I knew that it could be transmitted to another budgie or if I was given the information that there is a possibility (even if small) I personally would not put another budgie at risk. It is not fair to get a healthy bird sick this is my own personal opinion. It may not happen but then it could no one here can tell you it won't you know. :ausb: At this point it is not about personal appearance but the possible spreading of a virus to a healthy bird. You are a wonderful owner. Would she be happier with another budgie well that is like saying would my kids be happy if their friends came over absolutely but she is not going die a lonely life she has you to care for her and love her. My grandma's budgie lived to be 18yr as a single budgie. The urge for wanting a 2nd budgie is the hardest part to resist I understand and know this urge very well. They are wonderful companions. I know you will make the best decision for you and Konard.

Forum Topic
Do you have a picture of your cage posted? She may be exhibiting nesting behavior. Is she playing in the seed or nesting in it or guarding it :ausb:? Will she let the other birds eat and get out? How many hours of night do they get? Oh and welcome to our forums

Is French Moult Contagous?
Before you get another bird you really need to discuss this with an avian vet because I have read it can be given to other birds. Here is information I have pulled up on the net to help you but again I would take the information given here and discuss the options with your avian vet. If it was me I would not get a 2nd bird as it is seem a bit to risky for the new bird. (again this is me though) and I know that may not be what you want to hear. :budgiedance: French Moult PFBD this is a very easy to understand article and gives 2 theories. Good luck with your decision.

Some Questions
Usually when they are picked on it is not around the neck but the back of the neck so I don't think so. Cute about the tiels :budgiedance:

A Few Questions
Actually that is a wonderful cage though the cage looks tall the width of the cage is nice and wide. Sometimes dimensions of a large cage can make it look narrow. If I am correct others have purchased a cage similar to that and have removed the top so they could turn it into a play gym :budgiedance:.

I would keep an eye on it if it worsens you will need to get him to the avian vet to see if there is an infection going on

Gwen And Jaleh
maybe the hen is hiding the recessive pied gene visually that would give you a 50% chance there of recessives I was thinking

A Few Questions
I saw your other post that you have a round dome cage gave you some advice on those so when you are looking for a new cage you want long not necessary tall since budgies fly back and forth. Width is much more important then height. You can see my set-up in the Member's Cage Set-ups that is perfect for 4 budgies and I purchased mine off of e-bay for 100.00 U.S. There are many AU member so I know they can give you advise on purchasing a good size cage for a good price. I would personally get a cage that would house 6 budgies therefore you know for a fact they have enough room. Glad you are going to start quarantine that is a very smart decision.

Greetings
I read your other post , make sure when you purchase a new cage it is long as budgies need long to fly. I added to the other post member set-ups which I think you already reviewed. Round cages are the worst for budgies - get rid of it. 1. they like to sit in corners for security there is nothing like that in a round cage 2. they need to fly back and forth and not up and down to excerise. Since your birds are not tamed they will need a nice flight cage to get their exercise. I would suggest getting a cage that can house at least 6 therefore you know it is nice and big to house your 4 and they have good flight time within the cage. When you get pics up we can help you with the varieties of your budgies and such. Oh and don't forget to quarantine, if you didn't start it now that is #1 when bring home new budgies. I left a link for that on your other post too. Again, welcome.

Its Almost Mine!
that is how I was too (Laughing out loud), and I did bought more toys and my boys looks so small in such a big cage

A Few Questions
Before you introduce any birds to your existing flock make sure you quarantine for at least 30 days. Maybe you did this already not sure but I wanted to put that out there. Then personally I would get a cage where I could house them all together that is large enough. It sounds like the cage is big enough just possibly for 1 budgie? So moving him is okay as a temporary solution but not permanent since the others ones will still be cramped together. Quarantine Program from BBC FAQ's Example of Member Cage Set-ups

Some Questions
instead of guessing I would take him to the avian vet for a check-up Cute picture.

Well first I had a recessive pied, he is in my siggy Pretty and he is a male . Here is a picture of his cere Pretty Cere and it looks just like your birds. Boy's can have nasal rings, Pretty did but they are usually smaller then females. Boy recessives have very pink and smooth ceres while a females is usually whitish pink or whitish tan with larger nasal rings like the one in the post above too there is a female. When I first got Pretty I didnt have a clue but since I have been part of this forum and have gotten used to sexing budgies and seeing a lot of ceres it gets easier . There are of course the gender changes (Laughing out loud) that you think they are this and then bam they turn into the other sex but not often. Hope that helps. as with biting, bullying sure it can indicate a female but not always fool proof just like the singing and bobbing females do that too
