May I Introduce Our New Baby
If you have never clipped wings I wouldn't attempt to do it myself many avian vets or even pet shops that have birds can clip for a very minimal cost. I have never clipped my birds yet I would be too scared to cut and then they would bleed. If you do it make sure you do have powder that will stop any bleeding ASAP. When both wings are clipped the body is more balanced. Think if one of your legs was shorter then the other it would through you off balance. Sure you would get used to it and deal with it but it wouldn't be safe so most likely you would get something to balance you. Birds can't do that and if they try to fly they can't steer their bodies correctly and can hit the wall, window etc..and can get killed or injured. When budgies are young like yours they will not fight the stroke on the back or chest as they get bigger they will so I suggest working on scratching his head because the stroke won't last long. I remember thinking the same thing about Pretty and Merlin and they I found out the truth . Plus this may be why he is bitting too.

May I Introduce Our New Baby
Taming your Budgie BBC Article is a good read. I wrote it up and used my own personal experiences on how I tamed Pretty and Merlin. Does he try and fly? I would suggest that you get the other one clipped so he is safe and balanced when the other one starts to come in. It will take about 3 months for them to grow in so clipping the other wing is a good decision and then letting them grow back together so when he is starting to fly again he is balanced.

Tweetaville Bird
Hey Nerwen we need to start a topic with Members of Melanistic Spangles , your pics and Daz and I am sure they will become more popular. It can be added to the mutation PINNED topic that Bea did. What do you think? Melanistic means that as they molt out the marking from the shoulders look normal but they gradually turn into spangle markings by the time they get to the tips of the wings (I believe that is correct). Example of Daz's Melanistic Spangles

Feather Town Breeding
Gotcha it was the way it was written and it was explained. The explanation didn't say that it was 2 new birds vs 1 new and 1 existing. No harm for asking I hope . Sometimes I ask and get into trouble . I understand that are done very different at times so that is why I ask questions and not jump to conclusions you know (at least I hope it comes across that way). Thank you for explaining this to me Aly.

Big Lump
I agree with feathers that is what I would do too as long as she is happy but once she starts to suffer the decision would be made. Though it is easier to say this then to do it I know my own personal experiences with my dogs, cats, and even rabbit. Sepsis is what she is talking about if the bacteria gets into her blood system.

He is simply gorgeous reminds me of Pretty Recessive pieds are sometimes hard to tell because they don't have the lines going down to their cere. To me he looks he does look to be around 10-12wks old. Welcome to our forums and you did the pics just fine.
