  1. Violets are not hard to find but the intensity of the blue that "looks" purple is what is more difficult to find. At least here in the US. My Merlin in my siggy is a violet but doesn't looks as purple as some of the violets that Kaz has bred.

Oh my about the fathers killing the babies. Can I ask you a question, why didn't you remove the father before the babies were killed? Also did you close breed or colony breed? As for the sexing posting a picture will be best.
  3. gotcha...I tend to like blues myself a lot
  4. Thank you Loren, Lady and Feathers he is obessed with the plastic ball now (Laughing out loud). I bought him the 3 that connect and he wants this one. When it hits the cage floor it doesn't stop him he is off beating the poor thing up

I have bought the pet grass up at the pet store and Pretty and Merlin have loved the grass. I have even cut it and added to their veggie tray that way. As long as you know there is no pesticides on it and of course it is a safe this is an excellent way for them to also get nutrition. You can also sprout your own grass from seeds and that is located in the FAQ section here on our site in food and nutrition. The 1 thing about potted grass is it doesn't last long so when it looks like it is on it's last leg throw it out. I think my grass lasted almost a week and that was being prolonged in the frig at night. Hope that helps.
  6. Oh thank you Jackie, I apprecate your kind words. Anything I can do to help I will do my best :hap:
  7. Beeps iris ring confirms a dominant pied :hap:
  8. yes I agree, Pretty was really good with that...if I wouldn't have gotten Merlin he would have continued but that is okay. Merlin is copying my whistles now and I think he will talk with me talking to him all the time. I say Merlin baby all the time :hap:
  9. that is COOL Kaz....

  11. Congratulations Marlony!!!
  12. Yes I am just a picture person but honestly I knew that would be what others would want ...he is a beautiful bird. I don't have advise on the feather condition but I know someone will
  13. Nice to have you back Neat You must update us with birdie pics.

Norm the violet factor works exactly like the grey factor where it is an added color in both blue and green birds. It is also a dominant factor and you can have a single factor or a double factor violet bird.
  15. blue feet is normal and I love blue feet (Laughing out loud) Pretty's where pink and Merlin's are like a pink, grey bluish color
  16. That is what I was leaning toward with the unique marking on the side of the wings Sailor picture of the back would be wonderful. Since that yellow is staining there is no yellow face in the mutation. I am leaning more toward violet as Nerwen said, possible dilute.
  17. I enjoy your close-ups Bea because, it is almost as they pick up the birds thoughts. The one of Cookie and Blinks is adorable. Oz as we have said really reminds me of Merlin even with the pin feathers

congrats, I can't wait to see the new birds pics
  19. Picture of the bird please
  20. I agree they are both hens can you get a better shot of the back of the wings please on both birds Beep's wings marking look interesting from the side, being that Beep has more blue on the upper part of the body...I may think a dominant BUT does she have any iris rings. Tundra, looks like a recessive pied, a yellowface type 2 if that is not my monitor screwing up with me looks like she has yellow in the face and going into the chest. As for the blue she could be a dilute variety of either a violet or mauve. Those are my thoughts for now.
  21. looks wonderful and I LOVE the security system :oliveb:
  22. Welcome
  23. he looks like Merlin's coloring could he just be a violet?
  24. Elly replied to a post in a topic in Cage Discussion
I have the 3rd one and I bought my cage from this buyer with no issues in fact he even replaced a broken water cup at no charge. They are removalable but I left mine in because I use it for Merlin's food dish and put toys on it. He loves to walk on it but you can remove it easily.
  25. gotcha :oliveb:
