  1. great picture I love the corn and glad all is well.
  2. Kaz knows best and the one thing you can't guarantee is that a new one wouldn't get along but you can't say she won't either. In my mind if you had the space and if it didn't work out you had a plan I would get another female budgie of around the same age. I don't think I would go baby so maybe one that needs a good home from the paper, a rescue, criagslist (if you have that by you etc...) Saying that I believe you need to do some seperation of either the 2 males or the pair (expect that you may get eggs though you may not some may lay without a box) Once they lay without a box this can be very troublesome and chronic as Pheobe has first hand experience with this issues. If it was me I would seperate the males together and leave the female alone until you have a chance to decide or the new one is out of quarantine.
  3. Maybe my screen the baby looking at the monitor looks like an normal mauve? The cheek patches look blue not grey. To have the greywing gene both parents would need to be split for the gene or of course be a greywing themselves. Do you have a picture of the front of him? If his coloring is bright but light he would be a fullbody greywing if not then he could be 1. a greywing or 2 a dilute or 3. even maybe a clearwing if the body is light bright because his markings are very light. I would wait to till feathers up a bit more and certainly more pics up of him front and back . Gorgeous babies.

Welcome to BBC when you have a chance we would love to see pictures of your budgies we also have a great FAQ section located at the top of the screen if you ever have any question too
  5. Elly replied to chirpy's topic in New to BBC
welcome back Chirpy it is wonderful to see your rescues again. I loved all the pictures my favorite was of the budgie on your face with the legs spread open (Laughing out loud). How is Teapot doing? (I believe that is his name yes?)
  6. the front one looks female the one in the back looks like a young male and if this is a current picture is too young to be breeding. Your budgie should be at least 12-18 month old before they breed so they are mentally ready to raise a cluth.
  7. He has produced a lacewing hen? Just clarifying because that is cinnamon and ino gene combined so that would mean he is carrying the cinnamon gene? I am confused :budgiedance:
  8. Elly replied to **KAZ**'s topic in Show Results
    how wonderful Kaz, congrats
  9. Cinnamon do have plum eyes and then they change are you positive dad is not split for cinnamon this could be a hidden trait for a couple generations if you are positive I would think a double factor as there is a 25% chance
  10. how wonderful, I can't wait to see pictures Norm

he is gorgeous, I live in Ohio so I understand trying to find a bird of show quality around these part.
  12. You can only edit your own posts and if you can't edit your past post it maybe because of the recent upgrade with the site.

I would say he is a yellowface dilute (not clearwing because they have bright bodies with no light with almost no markings on their wings and heads). With birds you never know unless you know at least 4 generations or even more back if they are carrying strong healthy genes. With breeding budgies a lot of it is trial and error and creating your own breeding history/journals of a particular bird or pair. So I don't think anyone here can look at your bird and say the chicks will not be weak or have genetic disorder etc... As for show quality he looks more pet quality to my eye but we have some wonderful showers and show breeders who can answer your question. Hope that helps

okay, that is cool I figured out that I can click on the picture and make it larger...with the larger picture does look boy because it is pink with no white nasal rings.

Do you have a picture of the back of her? She looks like a yellow face dilute maybe mauve? Looks like a hen from this picture, how old is she? As for breeding what do you mean by nice? She is a beautiful bird and to breed is a large responsibility. We have a great FAQ section about breeding before you get started and even breeding journals here on the site that you can review so you know what to expect. Breeding can be rewarding and budgie breed easily but responsible breeding it self is not simple. There are many birds out there in rescues that don't have home because so many people breed. Many thoughts to thank about and I don't want to discourage you just but facts there.

If you have been having up and down type of weather that concerns me Right before Pretty died he had a pretty bad molt and the weather was up and down (hot and cold) and he ended passing we think of a respiratory infection. What does your bird eat on a daily basis? Vitamin A is very important for the lining of the respiratory tract. My personal opinion even if you think he is okay is to get him to an avian vet where they can look down his throat to see if he has any spots of red, do a gram stain and do a overall physical exam.
  20. pictures would really be wonderful if the the follicles are damaged to severly though they may not grow back and be bald. You said they are not flying yet though...how old are they because they also may have a feather disorder too. If you post a picture our more experience members in this field will be able to help you out.
  21. I think she will like the 2nd one best because that is the soft plastic for their feet, my Merlin loves his ladder that is very similar too that. Pretty loved it too.
