Melbournebudgies Wedding Gift
That is what is true they are 2 dark factors, in fact that bird looks like a Golden Face II blue with that much blue on the bottom of her. Violet is only an added factor on a green bird and can be on light green, green and olive birds. Very nice wedding gift you are very lucky.

- A Dilemma!
Cock is split for blue Hen is a Goldenface II Violet Blue (so not split - can't be split if they are blue) Chick is a Goldenface II Violet Blue (not split) these are my theories- A Dilemma!
So far I have worked out that the father is a light green greywing, split or visual opaline. The father, I agree is a Greywing but remember the Greywing does dilute the body so the father could actually carry a dark factor but the greywing gene is making the body color 50% lighter which is what happens with this gene, he would be split for opaline. Mother is light green also (??) opaline. Still they're both totally different shades of green. And the chick, she's olive or dark green. Which is not possible from so light coloured parents. The green is different because the mother is a normal light green with no dilution from the greywing gene, the cock greywing gene is affecting the coloration of his green. Also there are different variations of light green as there is with green and olive. So what is it that I can't see? Violet gene? Grey? Maybe the mother is a yellow face blue, you can see a tinge of blue on her neck... Maybe she's violet or he's grey? It can't be grey because it would be a grey green and the cheek patches would be greyish or silver, violet gene which could explain the blue suffision on her neck or she could be a Golden Face Blue which could explain that the chick a a Golden Face and the dark yellow running through the green could make the chick darker along with 1 dark factor that the father could be carrying. The cock is a greywing, the hen could be split for greywing - did you get any greywing chicks? These are my thoughts, not an expert, and I am sure others will come on too. ADDING: Seeing those new pictures I go with this the HEN is a Golden Face II Blue and the chick is a Golden Face II and the dark yellow running is making green darker along with 1 dark factor that the father could be carrying but is not seen because of his diluation from the greywing gene. The HEN is showing the violet suffision in the neck so I also believe this chick is carrying the violet gene too his cheek patches are very dark like a violet.- Spanky & Saucy Face

- Do Budgies Actually Enjoy Flying?
Did you read my reason above, this is true this is why he won't fly if you want him to fly you need to give him a reason .- Breeding Cobalts
Violet is an added color to all the different colors. To get a cobalt your bird will need to have at least 1 dark factor. So example if you bred 2 sky blues you would only get sky blue but if you bred a sky blue with a cobalt you could get a cobalt. To enhance the color you would add in the violet factor.- Violet Birds-
Neat that was what I was thinking a dilute violet and your explanation of violet was correct it is an added factor just like grey so you can have a green bird that is carrying the violet gene too.- Possible Egg Binding
glad she is getting better- Hi Thought I Post In Here As I Havent Been On Here In A While
Welcome Back, and I have to say your name does look familar , look foward to pics.- New Babies
They are cuties you should post that picture in our competition of the month called Budgie of the Month for sure. If the green bird is split to blue you have a 25% chance of getting a blue chick and it would most likely be a sky blue or could be a cobalt depending on how many dark factors there are involved. All the babies will be normals but there are always sex-link hidden genes & recesiive genes so maybe there will be a surprise in the nest. As stated if any of the birds have a larger patch on the back of their heads then they would be a domanint pied and not a normal which only change the ratios that you would have 50% dominant pied and 50% normals.- Possible Scaley Face?
On your camera setting there should be a close up or macro setting this is where it needs to be set along with pushing the shutter button 1/2 way until it focus and then click. As for putting on the oil, vaseline etc...be careful when you apply you don't block the nostrils.- This Week
