  1. what a nice wedding gift , that is awesome. Does she likes blues or greens, that is another question too so you know if you should give her a female that is blue or split. I will let someone else answer the rest, all I can think of is "nice normal" to pair him with because that is supposed to be the key to bringing in good genes it seems . Plus a normal will give you 50% single factor spangles and 50% normals unless she likes Double Factor Spangles and you would need to pair him with a Spangle then so you could have 50% double factor & 50% singles.

    Thanks Neat
  3. Handling the chick every day as much as you can is going to be your best bet as advised, let the parents finish raising it if possible this is the best way for a bird to learn how to be a bird but yet enjoy human interaction.
  4. Neat I think you mean his cere not his feet . If he has a blue cere then he would be a Double Factor Spangle If he has a pink cere then he would be a Dark Eyed Clear
  5. cute pics and video, Merlin does the same thing, takes over.
  6. It really advised not to house tiels and budgies together once the tiel get older he could get hormonal and the damange he could do to a budgie or even back could be bad, animals don't think right during the hormonal stage. As for letting them continue to be friends many members on this forum have their tiels and budgies interact out of the cage. There are some that have a mix of budgie and tiels in an aviary but they are very large with enough space not a smaller type cage. Pics are cute .
  7. Welcome and look forward to seeing pics.
  8. I agree with AV. The one thing I didn't see address that you asked is the age of when they are sold? Budgies should be able to eat seed on their own, have fledged and this is usually around the 8-10 week mark. Anything younger is too young and taking a risk. Also if you decide to breed be aware there are many good intentions but because of this there are many homeless birds. So if you are going to breed have a plan on what you will be doing with the babies, some birds can have only 1 baby if the clutch doesn't work out but if you have a successful clutch we have seen as many as 8 babies hatched.
  9. the best way to take pictures to show the accurate coloring is put the bird in the daylight or sun and then snap a picture with out a flash.
  10. Do you have a picture please to post, it is normal for the cere to flake here and there. I know Merlin's does especially if he has been rubbing on his perches. Again, a picture would really help us here.

  12. awe that last picture is precious dodger they are beautiful
  13. It is the pump then that is what happened to mind and it costed 30.00 US here to fix it, you will have to get some strong arms to move it forward to see if you can fix it. .
  14. a belt is very cheap even with s service person to put it in but it probably would be as much as you paid for it but if you could do it yourself it would only be probably around 20.00

The best way to teach a bird to come on command is the same way you would teach a dog you can also use small distance. Example, for Merlin and I I would only have my finger about an inch way and he would step up and I would click Merlin and he would fly to me, when he got that point we went further and further now he will do at least a 3 foot distance and fly to me by me clicking but every time he comes to you reward him with millet that is what I did. Now I don't even need millet he just comes.

I love fish tanks, your tanks looks beautiful.
  17. bruffy is right, the best thing you can do is ignore the noise or if it gets too much you can simply cover him up until he quiets down and then uncover him, I have to do that with Merlin here and there but not very often.
  18. I know they are located overseas too check it out it is just a local listing of people selling things, type in craiglist in the search engine. Also it may not be a serious issue what is the machine doing? My husband just had to replace the pump in it so it was very simple at times it is a simple part that can be fixed for less cost.
  19. Sunnie & Liv your birds look wonderful, I wish I had an opportunity here where I love to have an aviary but it is impossible with our climate in the state we live in. I really enjoying seeing these show birds, when I first started as a pet budgie owner I didn't really like their look but then I got Merlin and continued to watch all the different shower grown on this site and really enjoy the look of both types of budgies. They are beautiful, glad you all had a good time whether you brought home a bird or just enjoyed the show.
  20. they are both beautiful, I hope they produced nice chicks for you.
  21. that sucks, I can't live with out a washer with kids, did you try craiglsist? does it reach to you? you can find a lot of great deals there.
  22. Do an updated post on this post with pics and then we can reguess
  23. Honestly, most budgies do stop talking or talk much less when they are with a budgie buddy because they have no reason to talk your language and mimic you because now they have their own species. Pretty did stop talking when I got Merlin and Merlin started talking after Pretty passed away. There is only one member I know that their budgie didn't stop and her other budgies picked up talking from him but he was also hand raised by her. As for taming other budgies I would find it harder to tame the babies when there is another adult budgie because they want to be with the adult budgie and and not you so I would keep them away until they are full tamed. I know I got Merlin at 9 wks, I did the 30 day quarantine but once he was Pretty he didn't want anything to do with me. This has been my personal experience.
