It's a little tough to see in the pictures.. Seems like it could be a male.. Recessive pied males have a pink cere even in adulthood.. Females will turn brown. About how old is he/she? And the cere more pinkish or whitish in person?

It is great that she trusted you.. you would probably have lost her otherwise.. I heard something about someone keeping babies under a year old in a separate enclosure/aviary.. I was just wondering if that was a good idea. I suppose they have to stay with their parents up to a certain point though.

Carrington must be around a year old.. I got her last April.

I couldn't help calling him Little One when I got him, even though his intended name was Tucker. Well, and he is little (compared to big fat Bunny )

I'm glad that you were able to get her back. I have to wonder if it may be a good idea to keep babies/juveniles separated from the adults so that there won't be more attempts at breeding/possible injuries. Breeders may know more about that.

Than a handful of crazies... Bunny, Little and Carrington. She gets a separate finger for the safety of everyone involved. Bunny, Little Normally I wouldn't have shown this one.. but I like Bunny's expression.

Congratulations Vroom. K'ulli sounds like a great budgie. There's alot of surprising things that budgies do. Make sure you let us know how your progress goes and post some pictures if/when you can.

The yawn picture was a total accident.. I couldn't get that shot again if I tried 1000 times.

YAAWWN! It's funny because half of the feathers on his wings have a whitish background.. and the new ones are coming in with a yellow background. I haven't clipped his wings and it seems he's starting to actually like me. He even took some food from my fingers.

They are so adorable. Juli is an opaline. The other 2 look normal colored at this stage. Their father is an opaline? If he is than Juli would be the only female. Juli looks violet (maybe) too.. but that could be my moniter.

I linked a lovebird chart as a visual aide. The ones that are split to opaline don't look any different that a "normal" bird but they carry the opaline gene. It works the same in budgies.

I don't know about under his wings.. but near his legs and on his belly his color is a simular blue to Bunny--maybe more greyish-- but still blue. His colors are a bit more "washed out"/ pastel than in the pictures (but the second one is closer) which is why I guessed at a dilute. I really think he is a type II yellowface even though I'm not certain of the base color. I think he's somewhere in the middle of his 1st molt.

I'm very sorry. I hope things go well for the other chicks and the next one if it hatches.

If it is the father that is cinnamon and the mother is not cinnamon, any cinnamon babies from the pair will be females. Male babies would be split for cinnamon from that pairing. The mother cannot be split for cinnamon. Females can't be split for sex linked traits so that would be true of a opaline father and a non-opaline mother as well.
