Munchy
I think i'm going to have to put Munchy back out into the aviary with his siblings in the morning.. Apple really doesn't like him and spent a good portion of his time today in his cage sulking (when he wasnt trying to pluck Munchys feathers). Apple wont come near me if i have Munchy and looks at me as if i'm a alien.. Maybe if Munchy was a little bigger Apple might accept him more readily, although Munchy is already as big as Apple is :(Laughing out loud): even Munchys eyes are twice the size of Apples Ill see if he will go back into the nest but keep up full contact with him while he is still outside and try to bring him inside again in a few weeks or so

A Hand Built Avairy (indoors)
Its just some small Mahogany saplings that i cut into lengths and drilled holes into and then threaded some sisal rope through.. Cheap, fun and effective.. I also made a swing like this and i used some sisal with just knots tied into it as another kind of climbing ladder. Cheers  Una

Munchy
On Closer inspection his breast feathers appear to be a light green colour :hap: so he has a blue bum, tummy and tail, a green chest and the rest is yellow He certainly got mixed up in the colour department .. Apples being a little turd (Laughing out loud) i don't think he likes another budgie in his territory, but i cant blame him since he is a spoilt lil brat :(Laughing out loud): Hes gone to peck Munchy a few times, well each time he gets close enough to reach out :dbb1: but i'm keeping my fingers crossed as this is the first day that Munchy has been inside.

Munchy
:hap: he is in with me now.. Apples not quite sure about him yet but hopefully he will get over that I have Munchy in a small cage and Apple swings all over the outside of it yelling out "Watcha doin" at poor lil Munchy most of the time though Munchy calls back out with a little trill.. Hopefully they will work it out :dbb1:

A Hand Built Avairy (indoors)
I'm use to making cages/tanks etc .. we always seem to end up with animals coming out of our ears.. most interesting thing i made was a huge reptile tank for a blue tongued lizard (i welded a leg on at a slightly odd angle)

Munchy
HES HALF BLUE ... that was something i was NOT expecting.. its as if someone dunked him in a pot of blue paint but missed his head, wings and a little of his tail hes such a cutie :dbb1: I was half expecting him to look a bit like Apple.. the blue has caught me totally off guard.. The other chicks, one i think is going to be alot like Apple and the other is a lemony yellow just like mum.. Cheers  Una

A Hand Built Avairy (indoors)
Hello.. Only about a month or so ago I made a huge cage/aviary thingy that i made for in the lounge room. It was first made with the intention of putting my breeding pair of Budgies in there but they seemed to go well in the main aviary, so i put my little Apple in there as it was much larger than the cage he was in.. I had it just sitting on a coffee table and had it lined with paper so it was easy to clean, but it would be easy to make a wheeled frame for it to sit on. Its just a basic box frame with wire covering it and bits of ply where needed for doors etc.. When i worked out that Apple was going to be in it, I added a doggy door to the front (upside down) so it made a bit of a landing pad for him and he had easy acess to it anytime. I made two large doors on the side for easy cleaning etc. I made a top and a bottom one because the original idea was to have the breeding pair in there and i could just open the top door to check on the nesting box. Thats also why i put a bit of ply on the back corner, so i could bolt on the nesting box. Not sure if any of that helps you at all but its just what i done and thought id share it with you.. Cheers  Una

Head In The Clouds?

Head In The Clouds?
yes well we all know how evil you really are now while i'm on the note of evil things Bea i just have to tell you that the first time i saw your new signature, in the right hand corner you have your puppy with blink's flying above him.. At first I thought you had done it so that Blink's was made to look like an Eagle carrying your poor little puppy away :grbud: Or maybe that is how you did plan it (Laughing out loud)

Head In The Clouds?
He constantly has me in stitches of laughter, hes such a cheeky little sausage.. The latest thing he has started doing is yelling out in your ear "Watch Out" then he pecks you, but lucky for us he only pecks softly (play mode) :rip: I think because im constantly yelling out to people coming in and out the doors to watch out for Apple hes now taken it on as his and added a little peck for effect

Head In The Clouds?
While cleaning up in the lounge room yesterday, I could hear but couldn't find Apple anywhere.. It took me about 5 panicked minutes to locate him, perched on some fake roses on the TV cabinet with his head stuck into the speaker as far as it could possibly go (no risk of getting stuck (Laughing out loud)) He was enjoying the echo of his own singing He sat like this for ages until i moved the leaf to get a better look He was enjoying the privacy the leave gave him Cheers  Una

Orphan Eggs
Sooooo the egg that i still have in the nesting box that has been unhatched for the last two weeks or so (the last egg) is probably not going to hatch I just dont have the heart to get rid of it although its getting a little bit poopy being kicked aout the nesting box by the babies

Breeding Without A Nest Box - Inadvertant Budgie Breeder Lays An Egg A
Imagine the stress the female must be going through laying all these eggs.. I'd be separating them for THEIR own health and wellbeing and investing in some earplugs if required, they will get use to being in different living conditions (may take a while though) but in the long run you will have healthier and happier birds for it i'm sure Cheers  Una

Another Homemade Playpen :)
Lani it looks good but just a thought.. If this is the playgym you have used the liquid nails on (looks like blobs of it in the picture) Maybe try and trim up and remove the excess so that the budgie cant chew it.. Reading the post about it before, id be wary using it and id make total sure that the bird couldn't acess any glued bits Just a thought

Not A Good Cage
Hey Daz, the pictures you show as an example of a good and bad cage, well with the good cage, I actually bought Apples new cage from these people for Christmas.. Its HUGEEEEE, the pictures simply dont do it justice. I could cross my legs and sit in there (if it didnt have a playgym on the bottom ) It was a great purchase, room enough for him and his soon to be little mate Cheers  Una

Beak Problems
Caren its good to hear it was only caused because you own a dingaling of a Budgie (Laughing out loud) and not an underlying health problem.. Keep up posted on his progress Cheers  Una
