A Little Advice Got Babies
Goodluck on your babies and I think it is great that you took them in.

Hello Newie Here
Well I would let them raise them for now. When you want to rehome to budgies you could screen the homes that you want to give them to. I'm wondering. How old are these budgies (the parents) and do you have a nest box attached to their cage?

I Have A Problem
Well here are some old pictures I took of the oldest baby about a week ago, when it was two and a half weeks old. Due to flat batteries I couldn't get many. But just got some, so hopefully all will go well. Edit: Nope new batteries are flat too. :bluebudgie: I will have to wait til tomorrow while the batteries charge up.

The Right Combo
Perhaps you could scatter seeds in the salad, so that they have to dig under the leaves to get at it. Sometimes when I let my budgies out, I scatter a little seed on the ground so that they can forage as they like. Then when I put them away I sweep up the rest of the stuff.

Vegiesand Other Foods
Broccoli is a real favourite too. I give mine dandelion leaves (not the hairy ones) and they devour them completely in 2 minutes! I give them banana too. Although banana is quite high in sugar so I don't do it often. And I also give them an egg and biscuit mix that I bought from the pet store. Apple and grapes are favourites as well. Note always wash your fruit and veg before giving it to them and chilian grapes are very bad for birds, there was a recent case where an owner and his birds were all poisoned by chilian grapes and he lost 9 of his birds). There is a list of acceptable and nonacceptable foods in this forum. You can search for it. List of unsafe foods: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=6795

I think that she is a girl and that she is also a dominant pied.

Sick Parents And Foster Question
You are doing really well sofar. Goodluck.

I Have A Problem
Youngest baby might have some dilution too. I'll have a good look for that lead today. I didn't think you could get budgies with violet head bars. They are so pretty. On the 2nd oldest the violet head bars give it an irridescent head. It is so cool.

Paine, The Rescue Budgie
Good work. How come she was so bitey?

What Is He?
Yeah he probably is a yellowface type2 or a golenface.

Sick Parents And Foster Question
Yes. Shellball. That's what I was thinking the fostered babies could transmitt the virus to their foster parents if you do that. Make sure your sick birds aren't coming in contact with your other birds too. I think you should hand-rear them rather than risk losing all of your bugies.

What Is He?
Bubbles: Then those males must be recessive pieds, because DF dom pied males definately have blue ceres. I've even seen Them.

I Have A Problem
No splayed leg problems at all. I really wish I could find that camera lead and then I could show you the babies. The middle baby looks like it has violet head bars. And the youngest baby has browny cinamen wings with what looks like violet head bars and some on its wings!!!. And they all look like saddle backs. Light feather markings at the top of the wing and dark at the bottom. !!!!. Otherwise they are yellowface2 blue spangles. :bluebudgie: I can't wait to see them fully coloured and feathered out.

Let The Breeding Begin!
Yay!!! Isis just laid her first egg! Finally. It is a really big egg too. Oooh I'm all excited.

Joshua's Budgies
To get mauve babies, with your mauve recessive pred, you should cross it with either a mauve where you will get 100% mauve or a cobalt where you will get 50% mauve and 50% cobalt. You can also cross it with the equivalent in greens. Such as a dark green split to blue and an olive split to blue.

Joshua's Budgies
The budgie in the first picture is a dilute yellowface type 2 sky blue. Your second budgie is a recessive pied. To have a recessive pied you need to have two recessive pied genes in order for it to show, so a recessive pied is always a double factor. Your first one is a dilute, because its body colour is also diluted
