  1. All good male budgies are often left outside the nestbox wondering what to do next. Some like to hit the town and chat up some chicks: Turning on the charm Strutting their stuff Although, some males haven't seen their mate in such a long time they've forgotton what a female budgie looks like. This can turn bad... ...some boys go crazy, demonic even. This is often scary for all concerned and many will try to hide: With no girls insight, the boys have to make do with each other: However, when the other doesn't take kindly to their wooing, some get grumpy: But in the end things always turn out well The Arkster still has it
  2. Here are some new pictures of my babies. The youngest was having a snooze in the nest box so I haven't got a picture of 'her' yet. I got both flash and non flash pictures to show you their colours. Their colours are more like the pictures with no flash. Here is the two of them with flash: And here they are with no flash: *preen* Yawn Ghost budgies! The ghost budgies get down and funky. *dance* Well those are my little bubbies. They are so cute
  3. Here is a picture of the eggs. They are really big and shiny.
  4. Haha. I love that ghost foot one. Why is it so transparent?
  5. Dehydration is also another cause for feathers dropping out. Make sure you budgie gets plenty of water.
  6. The little babies are learning how to fly. They are so cute. :budgiedance:
  7. I have a little yellowface type 2 blue cinnamon and its blue is diluted slightly.
  8. Yes Kiwi is definately a boy and Joybell is dfinately a girl. They both look to be adults. I would say at least 6-7months old at the very youngest. Because they both have their full coloured ceres already. The cage is okay. :budgiedance: How long have you had them for? I would get them finger trained and used to your hand before taking them out of the cage. This way they will be less frightened of you when you need to put them back in the cage. You can use millet to entice them on to your hand. With Joybell I would just try to feed her with millet and get her used to that before getting her to step up. That way she can get used to having yur hand in the cage. Once she is okay with you hand in there and she happily eats the millet from your hand. You can use it to entice her onto your hand to step up. Then wen she is used to that you can try to take her out of the cage. This may take a few weeks as these budgies are older and have had more time to larn to be afraid of humans. Do a training session for 10 to 15 minutes 2-3 times a day. Yes this is very normal. I would only get worried if they actually start to physically attack each other, and only then if they draw blood or hurt each other. Budgies will bicker. Just keep trying sometimes it takes months for them to get used to veggies. One thing is to make sure that the new food is smaller than their heads, so that they won't be scared of it. You can try and sprinkle some seed onto the veggies. Try some broccolli or some wet romaine lettuce sprinkled with seed. Experiment with how you present it. Some budgies like it in bowls, some like it chopped up, some like it to hang from a peg. Yes the wings haven't been clipped very well. I would clip off that feather as it would be liable to break easily without the support of the other feathers. And if it was only on the right wing, am I right in assuming they only have one wing clipped? If they do, it would be a good idea to even up their clip and clip their other wing too. This is because a bird with one clipped wing cannot control its flight properly and has to overcompensate, which can cause it to land badly or hurt itself. No I wouldn't worry too much about that. If they are new they are probably still settling in and it may take awhile for them to do so.
  9. That is called tetragametic chimerism. It is when two embryos fuse together early on in the egg. The two different colours actually have different DNA. :budgiedance:
  10. Well. I've got two eggs from Saffron already and they are basically the same age as Isis's eggs so it wouldn't be too bad. It would also be ensurance for if Isis has problems, then I can foster her eggs out to Saffron. I'm also really hoping to get a green bird from Saffron too.
  11. Just put an "enter" button line between each photo
  12. They all do the biting. I think they are just testing me to see what I am. Yes Izzy does feed them still. I suspect that one is a girl too. Thanks for the help.
  13. Yes it is definately easier to say as well.
  14. Teehee
  15. I think girl: Athene, Io, Xena (warrior princess haha)
  16. Wow. How do you get flight shots? What settings do you need to have the camera on. Because my camera has a delay between the time the button is pressed and the picture is taken.
  17. Wow cool Chrysosome. That would be neat. Hehe. It would give me a one up over all the other students in my year. Hhehehee
  18. That is so cool. Howmuch does it cost to ship to New Zealand? Just curious. I was thinking maybe you could add cotton rope or something to it. Do you have a website for all the creations that you make. I would love to browse it.
  19. Yes I would have to agree on two things: 1. She is a yellowface 2 opaline violet spangle 2. She is a goreous cutey pie
  20. How old is jingles. My first thought is female. But if the cere is changing colour it could be male. Although I think jingles is a girl.

I'm not an expert on this, and hopefully someone with more experience can help you. But some of the signs are laboured breathing and tail bobbing. Sitting huddled up. To help her, you can place her in a warm environment, this sometimes helps her to pass the egg. You can use oil to try and lubricate the vent You can try to steam the affected area. I think the key is to try and get the muscles to relax and warmth helps to do this. When getting hte egg out you have to be careful not to break it inside the hen, as she can die. If none of these techniques work, you can take her to the vet, where they can help her.
  22. One thing I find kinda annoying about the description of spangle is that their markings are reversed to that of a normal. This isn't actually true. If you look at a spangle feather carefully, you will see that there is infact a white or yellow edge to it and then the black stripe and then the white or yellow centre. They have exactly the same markins as a normal, however the inner colouring of the feather is actually clear of any melanin and it only lines the outside of where it would be normally on a normal budgie feather.
  23. Random fact: One of the ghosts in pacman is called Blinky. Blinky is also the name of Death's horse in Terry Pratchett's Soul Music. And then you've got Blinky bill.
  24. Isis has laid 4 eggs in total and it looks like she is stopping there. I have a picture, but I'm haing a few issues with connectivity at the moment, so they may take awhile.
