  1. It is possible that Cloud is begging for food, that is what babies sound like. Is he eating by himself at all?Budgies will put their foot on the other budgie's back as a dominance thing or to mate. If it is not proceeded with head bobbing then it will be dominance. Do not worry about that they will be fine together. What is the wormer you are using? If it is ivermectin, then it is ineffecive in water and I suggest you give it another way. Is Cloud the one with the pink cere? Cause that would indicate he is young as well as his barring is very low. Budgies will flirt with anything that moves as well as things that don't move! If the other budgie reacts how the boy thinks a girl would react then he will try to mate with it. They also mate with inanimate objects too. It is normal.

Lovely set up I have to point out that those bells cannot be copper as they do not tarnish blue. Copper goes blue/turquoise when tarnished and the bells on those gyms do not go blue, so they are not copper, most likely brass. Mine is very tarnished, but it is not blue.
  3. Hahaha that's hilarious.
  4. Yay. I just finished my exams and the feeling of freedom is great!! Now I just have to move houses. Good luck for your last ones
  5. I don't agree with breeding them together, if they have a limited lifespan, I don't think it is fair on the babies. Also not enough survive for us to really know enough about whether it is humane and ethical to breed them. This isn't highly related, and probably deserves another topic, but I'm about to leave now and it sort of relates to breeding ill animals for cosmetics and showing animals that have debilitating diseases. It is a video called Pedigree dogs exposed and is about breeding dogs for cosmetics etc. It will be very interesting to you Kaz as it has alot on Cavalier King charles spaniels. It is a bit distressing in some parts (I shed a few tears), but it is a very good watch. Moderators if you want to move this to a new topic feel free to do so. I apologise for this but I'm just about to go out. Thank you. Pedigree Dogs Exposed

A 604 is one of those large square cages. Avione 604: avione 604
  7. How stressful for you. Will Milly be okay with you giving her her injections? Maybe you should do it holding her in a blanket so she thinks the evil blanket is the cause for the painful injections and not you. Exams will be over soon, it's amazing how fast time goes. Good luck, hugs and millet.

Personally I like the 604s they are a great buy. I really, really, really, really want one. The rat cage I bought for the budgies isn't quite as cool.
  9. haha, just a bit. Oh well (human doctors ain't as good as us vets lol (just kidding))
  10. Haha, it's okay :hap:
  11. Oooo ouch! Well we've had internet for at least 3 years cause I've been on here for that long. I hope you enjoy yourself while down here. The weather is sort of behaving itself.
  12. Lots of things can cause blindness. But without knowing the cause it is probably best not to breed with them anyway, as they probably can't, because they can't see. Nematodes and cestodes don't really tend to cause blindness. It is very rare and only usually if it ends up in the wrong host and that tends to be humans. I would say that because he is an albino then he is more predisposed to cataracts anyway as they cannot filter light from their eyes like normal eyed animals can.
  13. Definitly a mauve recessive pied. As both the parent s are blue series and not grey and neither of the parents are dominant or clearflight pied.
  14. tsk tsk. hehe :hap: Hmm maybe you should get it checked out next time. If it is bacterial, the antibiotics may be lessening the numbers a bit, but not actually killing them all, so they just keep recurring. Maybe it's strep throat????
  15. They think that feather dusters are caused the same way as down's syndrome in people. It is not technically genetic. What happens when the cells in the ovary or testes divide into gametes, they divide incorrectly and pull the wrong number of chromosome to each gamete. This usually happens in women who give birth over 35 years old. So I'm wondering, how old is the hen? She will probably continue to throw feather dusters from now on, however her babies won't carry any feather duster gene, but they may be more prone to becoming a featherduster producer. I would retire this hen and perhaps if you still want her genetics, breed with another budgie that is related to her, but don't use her.
  16. Yeah the albino looks like a cock to me. Even if he was capable of breeding you probably shouldn't, if he has gone prematurely blind. Not a good genetic trait to pass on. And he probably wasn't interested in breeding because he couldn't see the girls.
  17. Metal. It was the only one available to me. I had to borrow it from the wildlife ward at the veterinary clinic. It was an emergency and none of the petshops had any.
  18. This one is a yellowface double factor spangle, not an albino.
  19. It looks like a mop to me.
  20. Huggles. I have to say though, they are in excellent hands. My babies are doing well now. Thank you Hopefully everyone else found the exam hard too.
  21. Yay, that's good! Yeah, when I was tube feeding Itha, she got really inflamed and swollen around her mouth where the needle touched. Poor thing, she did NOT enjoy it. Now she is scared of my hands and she used to even let me give her scritches. I'll work on her though. Oh yeah, I was crop tubing her, because she was sick and had completely stopped eating. She is all good now, but she won't eat her veges.
  22. Elly you wuss Its a common cold virus, get over it. It probably gets better because your immune system is great. Don't want to use amoxycillin as it is commonly used for bacteria that have a certain amount of resistance already. You should really throw those out. Colds are caused by viruses. Bacteria only really sets in later and if it was a particularly nasty viral infection, in that case you tend to get things like pneumonia and things you really notice. If your snot is puss-y (that looks wrong , pus, pus, not cat) then you have a bacterial infection. If it is clear and mucoid then you probably don't. Those amoxycillins you are taking are doing nothing for you but acting as a placebo. I wouldn't want to do it as you become predisposed to diarrhoea and fungal infections when on antibiotics.
  23. Yep, wait until the crops are empty before feeding and you don't want food stagnating inside their crop as it can predispose to bacterial overgrowth. Golden rule when crop tubing. Make sure you can feel the needle through the skin of the bird when you have put it in the crop. If you can't feel it this means you have gone down the trachea. Remove the needle and try again. Once you can feel the needle then you know you are in the oesophagus/crop.
