Question about eyes
However a DF spangle could have plum eyes if it was masking cinnamon or recessive pied. I have a cinnamon bird with iris rings, so yes plum eyes do get iris rings. All eyes do apart from recessive pied. Your bird is probably a yf DF spangle. Post a picture

Breeding English Budgie With Pet Type
Haha. Since Lord of the Rings and Flight of the Conchords, I think you'll find that theory has flipped sides Most of the world has no problem, just America for some reason.

Breeding English Budgie With Pet Type
Hahaa. Where did you read that? lol Haha, either they got the country wrong (most likely) or they got the name of the war dance wrong.

Something Strange Going On With Hen
There are always hidden surprises. Like my pair didn't produce opalines or violets or white series in the first clutch and then in the second clutch I got a white series and 2 opalines and 1 violet and these are all recessive genes! It would pay to mark the eggs with a pencil or water based nontoxic pen.

New Cage
I'm sure many ozzie forum members would gladly give you orders for nest boxes and breeder cabinets.

Look At Our New Home !
Better snaffle him up quick. Don't want to miss out. That's what happened to me, when I saw the most gorgeous budgie, but I missed out on him because I went back later.

Very Excited As To The Outcome Of This Pair!
Chick 3 is also a normal. Chick 2 looks like it could possibly be an opaline, judging by the white down and blue on the feathers over its elbows. I notice chick 3 has 1 black primary feather and a few other black feathers whereas the others are lighter. Maybe a recessive pied in the works or just a strange baby.

What Will Chicks Probably Be?
Greywing spangles are lovely. I have a greywing cobalt spangle. The second baby has a very blue bum, does that mean yellowface at all or do they feather up completely green in the end? I haven't really bred green series birds before, so I don't know what the babies are like. I did breed Emmett by accident, but his baby was a double factor spangle, so no colour on his tummy to tell.

Lizards Vs Snakes
That is very unfortunate DrNat, but good on you for relocating the snake. I think snakes are very beautiful. So why not a waterdragon? Curious. I like how they have black and red patterns.

Some Kind Of Protuberance Near The Eye
Best to get her to a vet. It could be all sorts of things It could be a tumour. A fast growing tumour is not a good thing and needs to be looked at soon as it is often malignant then. If it is benign it should be removed as it will become annoying to the budgie. It could be caused by an avipox virus. Which you can do anything about. You just have to wait for the virus to pass. (it is not transmissible to humans). It could be a papilloma virus (not transmissible to humans). Take her to the vet and they should be able to have a proper look at it and do some tests if necessary. It doesn't look like it is part of the eye, just the eye lid.

My Ugly Budgie

Look At Our New Home !
Aw. Bo is gorgeous. The cage probably won't need disinfecting for scaley face as it is new. the branches you can wash them down with vinegar or lemon water and then leave them in the sun for a bit. Scaley face can be treated when it presents.

Alcatraz.......
Awsome aviary. I would recommend building a safety door onto it or in the meantime putting those dangly door flaps over the door, like the kind they have in diaries/cornerstores, so your birds don't escape when you open the door.

New Cage
That's a really cool travel cage. I would order some chinchilla houses to be made if only you didn't live in another country

Feather Duster?
No. I just think she is a particularly messy buff baby.

Breeding English Budgie With Pet Type
While I don't like to call the pet ones American, because that is kinda claiming the breed (which isn't really a breed, as it hasn't been bred specifically and is almost claiming the species) many people call them that and you have to accept it to some degree. I do however agree with calling the show budgie varieties english budgies. This is referring to their breed and not their species country of origin. As the breed was bred in England. So an English budgie is a budgie of English BREED. It is very similar to the fact that dogs were bred from wolves in Europe, but no one gets upset when people call American cockerspaniels American. They are called that because the breed was bred there. English cocker spaniels were bred in England whereas both the American and English Cocker Spaniel's ancestor originated in Europe. You don't see the French, Germans and Spanish getting upset about that now do you? In the budgie world there is 1 breed: The English. The pet types are just mongrels really and aren't really a breed as they weren't bred specifically. People must learn to distinguish breed from species Species is a population of animals that can interbreed with each other and produce fertile offspring. eg Dog (Canis familiarus) A breed is a line of animals within a species, artificially selected to have certain traits. eg Alsation and Setter. These are all breeds of the same species. While I can see where the Australians are coming from. I would be slightly annoyed if people started asking about Australian Kakarikis (also because some people annoyingly can't distinguish Australia and New Zealand). It is unlikely to happen though as the Kakariki is not a hugely popular pet. Also when animals become as popular as dogs and budgies, people generally know the origin of the species. Just like New Zealand has the New Zealand White rabbit, rabbits don't come from here, but the breed was bred here.

Lizards Vs Snakes
Personally I love snakes, but here in New Zealand we can't have them. I think a beardie would be better. But personally I love water dragons and when I have money and a house I am keen on getting one.

New Cage
Someone should complain to the company about it. About the bell.

Pigeons...grrrrrr!
I get heaps of sparrows. My aviary is also supporting a family of blackbirds as well. It is kinda cute watching the little male sparrows dance for their girlfriends in front of the aviary though.

Pigeons...grrrrrr!
Your babies will probably be fine. Imagine all those sparrows they come into contact with everyday.

What's Happening To Their Beaks? And Plenty Of Other Questions!
Follow the directions on the wormer then. On the Tracemin minerals, I guess if it says it's for all birds then you probably can give it to them. I have no idea what it is though.

Easy Weight Gaining Food
Animals will lose condition as they raise babies, because it takes alot of energy to do so. Put her on an excellent diet, lots of feed. Try putting the food close to her next box so she doesn't have to travel far to get it. Give lots of egg and biscuit mix as this has lots of protein and will help her put on condition. Offer her pellets as well. Plenty of millet. Hang a millet spray in the nest box. Lots of veges. Particularly carrot and beans. Calcium supplements are a good idea too. You can also buy vitamins that you can put in the water that should just give her that extra boost.
