  1. That's unfortunate Sunny. Well I hope the last two pull through okay. Suki is a nice name. Avatar fan?
  2. What about nintendogs? Or Hamsterz or Catz or Horsez etc. There is also a vet game too! I would only get a DS for those games. I prefer the larger consoles, like Xbox 360 and PS2. I do have a psp, but I don't like the teeny-weeny eye-straino-vision that it gives me.
  3. Doesn't sound like she has an egg then. How much is she pumping her tail, because some birds have a little tail pump normally. Listen to her breathing, what does it sound like? If you are worried, the best bet is to get her to an avian vet
  4. Rainy seasons and the sound of water helps to get birds into condition
  5. Those are some awesome photos! The baby is progressing well!
  6. May I ask, How do the sparrows survive the winters then? And what about the other birds? Budgies are desert birds and deserts get very cold at night.
  7. It is because of the judges. What they like gets bred. So to change it, one of us needs to become a judge.
  8. Mine love playing with feathers. If I hold one up to them they will preen it or destroy it! They like to play with feathers so much that if an oblivious tail waves in their face they will pull on it!. In fact I chose my Arkady in a petshop when he was just 7 weeks old because he was chasing the cockatiels and pulling their tails!

What about instead of using paper to wrap food, you could use fresh eucalyptus leaves!
  10. Also, you shouldn't buy from a petshop or any vendor who are selling sick birds as it will only mean that they have profited from doing so and will continue to stock unhealthy birds or not treat them.
  11. No there are none in the wild. No wild populations, maybe the odd pet that escaped, but they can't really survive in our climate. They are quite sensitive critters and are very sensitive to diet change. I don't actually know how many there are in NZ, but a quite a few petshops seem to have one or 2 chinchillas.
  12. Well I didn't want to be naughty and point it out. :hap:
  13. Oh yeah. They are nocturnal too. So I just have to go put her to bed.

Fine then! I can't really reply to your first post. So I mean topic...yeah

So is this the original Jimmy post? haha!
  16. They are like rabbits crossed with squirrels and a hint of kangaroo rat.
  17. Here are some pictures of my chinchilla Ekima. I call her "Choo" for short. She is 8 years old now and is a homozygous beige mutation. I really wanted to breed her, but her mate died soon after I got her and I haven't been able to afford another one since and now I think she is just a bit too old to breed from. Chinchillas come from the Andes in Chile. They have the softest fur in the world with 80 hairs per follicle (that's why they are used for coats. It takes 100 to make a coat :hap:). Because their fur is so dense they rarely get external parasites. They also take dust bathes to keep their fur nice and soft. I haven't got any recent pictures as my camera is flat, but here are some old ones. On a branch In her hidey ball Having a dust bath. What? She winks at me too. It's cute!
  18. Well I gave them some more yesterday and they were soo happy. I can see on the leaves where Rosellas have chewed them, so they must be good then!
  19. Jimmy you are evil! You must be Loki in disguise! Funny that I suggest you do this in Kaz's post though! Came back to bite me in the bum! haha. Good times huh!? Let's find Jimmy's oldest post!
  20. That's pretty cool. I really like the flip dishes.
  21. Jimmy, if you are bored, you could go and look at the earliest post of each member. It is kinda funny.
  22. Welcome to the forums!
  23. Haha. What a cutey.
  24. I would just like to know how often is it safe to give eucalyptus leaves to your budgies to eat, or is it as safe as carrot? And does anyone know if the tree I described in the above post is okay?
  25. Haha. I sent off a request to have it rerated. Lets hope they give it a better rating than "category 4: pornography"!
